GalesburgHigh School December Family Newsletter

A Message from Mr. Hawkins

Parents and Guardians,

This month I wanted to highlight the numerous elective opportunities available for your student at Galesburg High School. Located at 940 W. Fremont Street, the newly constructed Galesburg Area Vocational Center (GAVC) provides numerous opportunities for our students. Our GAVC allows students to experience Automotive, Building Trades, Computer Science, Culinary Sciences, Early Education and Child Development, Health Occupations, Law Enforcement, and Fire Science. Additionally, outside of the GAVC experience, we continue to offer students courses in Agriculture, Business Education, Family and Consumer Sciences, Cooperative Education Work-Study, and Woodworking.

Through the dedication of our community and the members of the Board of Education, we have created educational facilities that are second to no other district in our region of the state. When your student meets with their academic counselor, please consider the many elective opportunities offered by Galesburg High School and the Galesburg Area Vocational Center.

Finally, if you are looking for some entertainment, please come watch our band and choir students as they perform at their annual holiday concerts. Our Symphonic Band and Concert Choir will perform this Sunday, December 12th, at 2:00 p.m. inside of Thiel Gymnasium. The Wind Symphony and Treble Singers will perform at the Orpheum Theater on Tuesday, December 14th, at 7:00 p.m. We hope to see you there to support our students.

In Silver and Gold,

Mr. Hawkins
