Dear Timberwolf Families,

On Friday, we celebrated Timberwolf accomplishments from December and January at the February Success Assembly. Nine students from Ms. Hendricks class were recognized for outstanding progress in reading. These students have moved 1.5 grade levels in half of a year. Four Timberwolves were also celebrated in the Spotlight for their contributions to the Truedell community and their efforts to do hard things.

Sienna K-D was recognized for giving her all to everything she does. In class, she gives every assignment her very best effort, uses feedback to improve and supports other students in their learning. Her effort and enthusiasm can also be seen on the basketball court, where she takes on any player defensively and has worked extremely hard to learn offensive skills. She takes what she is taught at practice and puts it into action!

Izzy W is a leader and role model in the grade 4/5 classroom. She consistently sets a good example for classmates and is the first to always step up to clean after someone else, offer to work with someone when they need a partner, and go out of her way to help. Izzy has been helping in Ms. Stong's classroom as well frequently to assist with the younger students. She consistently goes above and beyond to help someone else. Izzy does hard things!

In the past month, Haruna S has made incredible progress in learning English. Her willingness to finally start to use Google Translate is a testament to her creativity and problem-solving skills, and it has significantly enhanced her ability to engage with both her peers and her teachers. One of the most inspiring aspects of Haruna's journey is her growing confidence. She has begun raising her hand to answer questions in class, showing not only her understanding but also her courage in using a new language. This determination to participate actively and contribute to class discussions is commendable and sets a wonderful example for her classmates.

Matthew L'H has demonstrated his leadership both in the classroom and around the school. Matthew is an excellent helper in the Kindergarten classroom and with the Food Sharing Program. He leads by example and demonstrates to his classmates that perfection is not the goal but rather learning through doing. We are very proud of Matthew's growth as a student leader.

We are excited to announce that we will be hosting three parent nights over the course of the Spring. These one hour evening sessions will be open to the entire Truedell School Community. Topics will be around supporting children with anxiety, how to talk to your child about their concerns about school, and understanding the EQAO assessment. There will be information presented, as well as lots of time to ask questions and talk to Board staff and other families. We will be continuing these evening sessions into the Fall of next school year. Stay tuned for more information and the dates.

As always, please reach out to us if you have questions or need support.

Take care,

K. Esford, Principal
