Trail Guide 9
Tehaleh Heights Elementary
Trailblazer Families,
Ever wonder what teachers and THE staff are doing during late start Mondays? Our teaching staff are working together in a building wide professional learning community (PLC) in grade level or job alike professional learning teams (PLT). What this means is, everyone is looking at data and answering these 4 questions:
-What do we want all students to know and be able to do?
-How will we know if they learn it?
-How will we respond when some students do not learn?
-How will we extend the learning for students who are already proficient?
Ideas are shared among teachers to enhance teaching practice to create a learning environment where EVERY student can reach their fullest potential. This type of collaboration and professional learning offers many benefits such as support for improving instructional practices in the classroom, collaborative relationships, continuous improvement and a supportive environment for educators to work in.
Everyone associated in this work, works together to create opportunities for growth that would be unachievable through individual work. PLCs are based on shared vision, values and goals.
Our Trailblazer students are lucky to have so many people who care about them and their academic and social emotional success!

GOING RIGHT HOME!
Every parent knows that heart stopping feeling when a student isn't home when expected. We have the same feeling when you call or come into our office to see if your student is still with us at school. PLEASE have a reminder conversation with your student(s) about your after school expectations for them getting home. We encourage/remind students to go straight home! Our expectation is you, as parents, will communicate with our office of any changes with how your student(s) are getting home. Contact Tracy at 253-891-6530. Safety of our Trailblazers is our #1 priority. Thank you for your partnership.

Needs Assesment for 3rd-5th grade
All 3rd, 4th and 5th graders will be taking a Needs Assessment for our counselor, Ms. Johnson. The purpose of this survey is to make sure we are meeting the needs of all students in these grade levels. Some questions they will be asked are: I like school, I feel like I belong at Tehaleh Heights Elementary, I know a counselor is available to help me, I know how to get in touch with the counselor, etc. Please feel free to reach out to Ms. Johnson for more information or if you have any questions: vicki_johnson@sumnersd.org or 253-891-6530.

The PTA is proud to bring back Kids Korner Holiday Shoppes for a student holiday shopping extravaganza, Thurs., Dec. 8, and Fri., Dec. 9! Full details coming home next Monday, including an envelope for holding shopping money, if you'd like to send some along.
All students automatically receive a $1 coupon from the PTA to use to buy a small gift for someone special. Gifts are priced from $.50 to $12. Each class will join our volunteers in the gym during a designated shopping time on either Thursday or Friday.
