Week 9

Welcome to another super short week! There is no school on Monday OR Friday, so we will have 3 wonderful days to have some fun. The kiddos at Eisenhower has Hearing and Vision screening on Tuesday!

With the three day week, we will pause Frog Street and pick it back up next week when we have a full week.

So next week, when we start back with Frog Street, our second week in our Family and Friends Theme focuses on My Relatives, or their extended families. We will be talking about our grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.

Our Vocabulary this week: siblings, father, mother, brother, sister

Photo discussion cards: reading, family, family #2

For this week we will stick with last week's letters: C, c, E, and e.

For math we are starting to talk about the size and sound of different things; using words like gigantic, large, loud, medium, small, and soft.

The kiddos have loved our new calm down strategy, Balloon breathing. They like making the sound the balloons make when you let the air out.

To do Balloon breathing we place our hands on top of our head and lock our fingers together. Breathe in deeply as we raise our hands over our heads like we are filling a balloon. Breathing in a few times, before letting the air out and lowering their arms. Repeat as many times as needed to help calm down.

Firefighter Coat Method

Since is starting to finally get colder, we are working on putting on our own coats. I put the video below on how we will work on putting our coats on independently in class. Some kiddos have already had some practice with our dress up clothes, but it is great practice at home too.

Our Wonderful Classroom Aide

This is Dana Floetke or Mrs. Floetke. She is our wonderful and irreplaceable classroom aide and does so much for us. I had some questions at conferences about who my aide was, so I thought I would include her name and picture in the newsletter. If the kiddos talk about her, her name is pronounced Mrs. Flakey. I know, not how it is spelt, but easier for them to say than my name sometimes.
