St Anthony's School News
Term 1: 2nd March 2023

Week 7 - Thursday 8th June 2023
Acknowledgement of Country
St Anthony’s School acknowledges Australia's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, the traditional custodians of lands, waterways and skies across Australia.
We thank you for sharing and caring for the land we learn and play on.
We pay our respects to Elders, and we share our friendship and kindness.
Our Vision Statement
St Anthony's School community works collaboratively to teach and live the values of Christ. While respecting tradition, and to meet the demands of a rapidly changing society, it strives to educate our children to their full potential.
Message from the Principal
As we celebrate the feast of Corpus Christie (The Body and Blood of Christ) this weekend, we recall that Jesus sat at table with his companions, yearning for a way to continue his presence with them. In the words we know well, repeated at every Eucharistic celebration, he broke bread … took the cup … and said. … Do this in memory of me!
My thanks again to the P&F committee for organising Friday’s disco for your children. Some P&F members and volunteers will be in attendance, along with myself, at both discos. Parents are not required to stay. Having said that, little children do lots of running around at discos and tire very quickly (especially after a day at school). Parents of little children might like to stay just in case their child tires and wishes to go home before the conclusion of the disco.
Thank you to all the parents who have pre-purchased disco packs in support of the P&F. All monies raised by the P&F are invested back into the school for the benefit of your children.
Parking on Servite Terrace
You will no doubt be aware that the recently erected 1/4P signs in front of the school have been removed. After a meeting with Council Traffic Management it was noted that due process in informing all parties affected by the change of parking times had not been consulted or informed of any final decisions.
I have completed the Council Request for Community Consultation and hope the signs will be re-erected in the near future.
God bless

Principal

Faith In Action
Me and Isla had the coolest time ever on Wednesday, June 7th! We got to go to the Life Day Launch at Newman College, and guess what? Archbishop Timothy Costello was there too! He talked about something super important—he asked all of us to join and show love and support to people who need our help. It's like a "mission of care" for our brothers and sisters. Isn't that awesome? This thing called LifeLink Day is amazing! It brings all of us students from Catholic schools in Perth together to support the Church's social service agencies. These agencies work really hard every year to help lots of people in need. We can all make a big difference in their lives if we join hands and help. Let's do it!

Report Changes
As we approach the student report season, our dedicated teachers have been busy preparing to provide you with comprehensive insights into your child's academic journey. This year, there are a few changes to the reports. The report for Semester 1 will now be referred to as the 'Mid-Year Report,' while the report for Semester 2 will be called the 'End of Year Report.' Additionally, to enhance clarity and alignment, we will not include descriptors in the reports. Instead, we will utilise the achievement standards from SCSA for a comprehensive evaluation of your child's progress. This change ensures consistency and a better understanding of the assessment criteria.
Please see below for some further information regarding reports:

SEQTA Engage for School Reports
St Anthony’s School utilises the SEQTA Engage Parent Portal for parents to access student reports for students in Pre-Primary to Year 6 at the end of each semester. If you have not already done so, please log in to SEQTA Engage to ensure you are able to access your child's report.
To do this you need to go to the following site: https://stanthonys.coneqt-p.cathednet.wa.edu.au/ and use your current username and password. This link is also found on the homepage of the school website under Quick Links.
If you have remembered your username but have forgotten your password, please click on the "Forgot your Password?" link and an immediate email will be sent to you. The password reset link in the email will expire within one hour, so please action this immediately.
If you have forgotten both of these, then please contact the school and we can remind you of your username.
Reports will be available from Wednesday 29th June via the portal.

Kindy News
We have had such a wonderful term in Kindy with so much learning taking place. It is amazing to see the development in the children’s learning that has taken place so far this year. We are so proud of them all.
Our focus in Maths has been on number recognition, ordering numbers from 1 to 10, substituting and learning how to write numbers with correct formation. We practise these skills as a whole class and then in our Maths rotations. The children are all getting so good at their number work!
In our phonological awareness lessons, we follow the PreLit program which has a strong focus on listening for sounds in words. We practise rhyming, syllables, onset/rime, listening for beginning and end sounds in words and orally blending CVC words. These are skills that the children will continue to develop throughout the year and are so important to learn in Kindy!
We also love listening to our stories each week and completing activities based on our book. Our story last week was called ‘Big Rain Coming’. The children made a beautiful ‘Big Rain Coming’ art piece, sequenced pictures/events from the story and retold the story back to the teacher. We also said some prayers thanking God for the beautiful, cool, wet rain! Last Wednesday, we got to witness the big dark grey clouds coming and the children pointed and said ‘Big Rain Coming!’ – what a wonderful learning experience!
We have also been busily preparing for our Kindy Liturgy that will take place tomorrow. We have been talking about how we can show love and kindness to others. We also know that we can ‘Keep Jesus Real’ in our lives everyday by doing this!
