Principal Update

5/13/22

PrincipalUpdate5/13/22

Dear LP Families,

Happy Friday!

On Monday, you are going to be getting some fun things sent home with the kids. If you can believe it or not, we only have 26 days of school left! Our amazing PBIS team came up with a fun activity to do with the kids every day for the last 26 days of school. Each day will start with a letter of the alphabet. For example, Monday is the letter "A" day and the kids will do an art project during the school day. Tuesday will be a letter "B" day so students will each get their own bubbles; so on and so forth! I included the calendar below so you will know what each day brings!

Also, in celebration of reading Wishtree, our One School One Book committee arranged an opportunity with Donuts Delite for families to order a donut with the Wishtree logo on it. Order forms will be sent home Monday, 5/16 and will be due 5/27. We hope you will take advantage of this "sweet" offer. Special thanks to Mrs. Antonelli for organizing this for us!

Finally, a reminder that the budget vote is Tuesday, May 17th, from 6:00am to 9:00pm, in the 9th grade gym at Eastridge High School. Please make sure you take an opportunity to vote. For more information on our budget and the candidates running for the board of education, visit our website, www.eastiron.org.

Enjoy your weekend,

Dr. Bello

Wishtree Family Resources

Below, you will find a few resources to enrich your experience reading Wishtree with your child at home. The family guide has some fun family activities and questions about chapters, the video series captures staff reading chapters aloud, and the calendar helps keep track of where we should be in the story. These are all optional of course but we hope you will enjoy this time with your child.

Last month, we talked about College and Careers. During the month of January, their lessons will be on the topic of Smoking and Vaping. Feel free to review the information below. We encourage you to have discussions with your 5th grader about healthy habits!

Report Card Update:

Dear Parents,

Our district hopes this letter finds your families happy and healthy. Enclosed you will find a paper copy of your child’s report card. You will also receive a paper copy of the report card in March. However, for the final report card in June, we will not be sending a paper copy. At that time, we will ask that you access your child’s report card through the parent portal in Infinite Campus. You will need a parent portal account to do this. Below are the directions on how to create a parent portal account. If you already have a parent portal account, you can access the report card now in the portal.

We felt it was important to communicate this now, so we have time to support you in this transition. We will resend these directions in March and principals will continue to share this information in their building communications. In June, if you need a paper copy, we will most certainly respond to this request. We will send more details as that final marking period comes to a close.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Terri Robson

Parent Portal Instructions:

In order to create a parent portal account, you will need to have an email address on file with the district before you begin. If you do not already have an email address on file with the district you will need to call the main office of your student's school from a phone number associated with you and your student in order for them to update your information. If you have neither an email address nor phone number on file with the district, you will need to visit your student's main office in person.

  1. Visit www.eastiron.org, click on the Infinite Campus link, select Campus Parent and click the "Click here to request a parent portal activation key" link on the Campus Parent homepage. You may also choose to go directly to the URL below.
    https://ic.eastiron.monroe.edu/campus/portal/custom/requestActivation.jsp
  2. Enter the email address that you provided to the district in the box and click the "Submit" button.
  3. You will receive an email with your activation key.
  4. Click the "New User" link on the Campus Parent homepage (refer to step 1 if necessary).
  5. Enter your activation key in the box and click the "Submit" button.

  1. Enter your desired username, password, confirm your password and click the "Submit" button.

Just a reminder!

Please remember to bring your license with you if you are picking up your child(ren) from school. This is a required school protocol. Thank you for your cooperation!
