Principal's Message
Parent(s):
Welcome to November! The cooler weather is greatly appreciated. We are grateful for our partnership with parents. Please remember to check students grades on-line through Home Access Center (HAC). Checking grades weekly will help your student stay on track. If your child is struggling to complete work or failing, please email the teacher for further support or set up a conference.
Please remind your students that listening and using effort are two behaviors to practice daily! When students listen, they learn a great deal and treat others with respect. Students need to use effort every day to learn new skills! We all learn from mistakes, so just putting some work on paper can help students persist through struggles until they reach success! Thanks for encouraging your student to contribute to a safe and positive school environment. We appreciate your support in making Clifton Park a supportive and safe school!
One of our goals this year is to improve daily attendance to 97%—because every day of learning matters. Our average daily attendance for last week was 94%! The greatest number of absences are for unexcused absences. Please submit any medical notes or parent notes to the office to excuse absences as soon as possible. We are doing great and trending towards our goal.
To ensure the safety of our students, all KISD schools use Entry Shield towers to detect metal brought into the school. Students and adults are expected to enter the school in a single file line to ensure we are able to monitor the Entry Shield towers as students pass through one at a time. Due to the use of these safety protocals, entry to school may take longer than expected. Please ensure you drop off students by 7:15 a.m. so they arrive in the classroom by the start of school-7:25 a.m.
Please remember that school starts at 7:25 a.m. Students being dropped off after this time need to be walked into the office with a parent or guardian and signed in.

Students should arrive at the first bell, 7:20 a.m., to ensure they are in classrooms by 7:25 a.m. Clifton Park will use a tardy policy to support students in arriving school on time for learning. Please read the tardy policy below. The tardy policy will be implemented beginning September 8, 2025.
The tardy policy will also be utilized to ensure our students maximize learning experiences daily. Letters will be sent home or emailed to communicate with parents the number of tardies. Counselors will also communicate with parents of students with a pattern of tardies to support students arriving at school on time.
Listed below is the sequence of consequences for unexcused tardies.

Character Trait of the Month-Teamwork
Teamwork is the ability to work in unity with others towards a common goal. For us to learn how to become team players, it is important that we learn to listen, encourage our peers, and allow and invite others to contribute their talents and skills.
Parents can use the conversation starters below to talk with students on the way home from school about this character trait!
Please read the attached newsletter about supporting students in building their teamwork skills.
Dismissal Procedures
Any changes in the child’s regular schedule should be IN WRITING through a note or email to the teacher. Remember - school ends at 3:02 PM and your child should be picked up promptly.
Adults parking to pick up students are required to present identification. Safety of our children is our first priority!
Car-riders
Car-riders will be picked up in front of the building in one of two lanes. Lane 1 (closest to building) and lane 2 (furthest from building) are both available to use; the middle lane is to be kept open for vehicle movement ONLY. Each family will receive a placard with a number on it; this number will be assigned to your child(ren) and staff will use it to pair your child(ren) with your vehicle.
Car numbers MUST be placed in the passenger window or visor for clear identification. This assists quick identification of the cars to place students into for staff members.
Vehicles WITHOUT placards will need to park and the driver will need to walk up to the front of the building to show ID and pick up the child(ren). Extra placards are available upon request.
**PK and Kindergarten children will be walked by their teachers to their dismissal location beginning at 2:50. 1st - 5th grade will be walked by staff to their dismissal locations when the bell rings at 3:02.
WALKERS-Important Information!!!
Students are escorted out of the school to the fence at Florence road by the carwash where a crosswalk is used for safe walking across the street for older students with siblings. Students are expected to walk off campus by 3:07 p.m.
Students that have not walked off campus by 3:07 p.m. will be escorted to the office by the teacher. Students must be picked up in the office by parents.
