Music in Our Schools Month
Music brings creativity, expression, and unity to our school community. This month, we celebrate the power of music education and the talented students and educators who make it possible. From choir and band performances to music theory and composition, our school is filled with incredible musical achievements. We have upcoming events and performances this month that showcase the importance of music in our lives and school!
National Athletic Training Month
March is National Athletic Training Month! A huge THANK YOU to our amazing high school athletic trainer, Kelli Veidt, for her dedication, expertise, and care. From injury prevention to recovery, she keeps our athletes safe and performing at their best. We appreciate everything you do, Kelli!
3rd Quarter Report Cards
Report Cards will be mailed home on March 14th. If you have any questions or concerns about your child's academic progress, please reach out!
ACT Makeup Testing
Our 11th graders will have the opportunity to retake the ACT if they missed the testing day last week. Testing will be on Thursday, March 6th. Please help students arrive to school on time. Breakfast will be provided in the classrooms. Below is some information to help students prepare for this test.
March Parent Teacher Conferences
Our goal is to meet with each and every family at WHS this school year.
What will this look like? Each family will get to meet with a teacher representative at one of the parent teacher conference nights this year. During this time, we want to discuss current academic goals and progress, activity involvement, interests, and plans for after high school. We also want to give you the opportunity to provide us with your feedback and suggestions.
If you have not already had a conference, please anticipate an invitation from a WHS staff member for a conference this year. We look forward to meeting with you on our campus and strengthening the partnerships between the school and home. If you would like to request a conference during the March 20th session, please fill out the following form.
Spring Musical: Mary Poppins
Tickets are now on sale! Theatre at Wilmington High School presents Mary Poppins. High energy choreography and memorable songs like Step in Time, Jolly Holiday and supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. Performance dates are Thursday, Friday, Saturday, March 6, 7, 8 at 7:00pm and Sunday, March 9 at 2:00pm. All seats are $12.00. Tickets can be reserved using the link below.
10th Grade Field Trip
US History students will be taking a field trip to the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center (NURFC) on Friday, March 7th. We hope this experience will help students understand and appreciate the Civil Rights movement as a whole. Specifically, we will be focusing on Let The World See, an exhibit exploring the impact of Mammie Till-Mobley’s decision to share her son’s story with the world. This is in line with US history curricula and will provide students a more powerful experience than they can get in the classroom. This trip was funded through a grant from the Wilmington City Schools Foundation.
