Welcome to Medway High School!

Dear 8th Grade Families,
It is with great pleasure that I extend a warm welcome to you and your soon-to-be high school students as they begin the transition to Medway High School. We are excited to partner with you during this important step and would like to share an overview of the transition process and the opportunities available for you to learn more about our school community.
On the morning of February 5th, our school leaders, school counselors, and Peer Counselors will visit the 8th grade to introduce students to Medway High School and provide an overview of our programs, activities, and student life.
We invite all students and families to join us in person at Medway High School for our
Incoming 9th Grade Program of Studies & Scheduling Night
Monday, February 9th at 6:00 PM in the MHS Auditorium
During this session, the administrative and counseling teams will review our Program of Studies, graduation requirements, course options, and the scheduling process. In addition to learning about the logistics of scheduling, families will hear directly from current students about what it’s like to be part of the Medway High School community—how they balance academics, extracurriculars, and friendships, and the many ways they get involved and find their place. This event serves as the kickoff to our course selection season and provides families the opportunity to ask questions, connect directly with staff, and gain a genuine sense of the student experience at Medway High School.
Additional supports this spring include:
Parent Program of Studies Drop-In (Zoom) – February 10th, 12–1 PM
Collaborative course planning with the middle school – Throughout February and March, our administrative and counseling teams work closely with the middle school staff to support course recommendations and guide each student’s course selection process
Spring transition resources, including short videos that provide an inside look at classes, activities, and daily life at MHS, along with additional drop-in sessions and optional tour opportunities for families
Step-Up Day in June – A special orientation day when incoming 9th graders visit Medway High School to tour the building, meet teachers and Peer Counselors, and participate in activities designed to help them feel comfortable and confident before the first day of school
Ongoing resources and updates on our Grade 8–9 Transition website, including department information and scheduling materials, which will be shared the week of February 5th.
We believe that building relationships early and providing clear information helps ensure a smooth and successful transition to high school. We look forward to welcoming your family to Medway High School and partnering with you throughout this process.
