ACCESS Testing for CLDE Students and Families ACCESS Testing for CLDE Students and Families

ACCESS testing is coming up for CLDE students. This assessment measures growth in English language skills—listening, speaking, reading, and writing—and helps teachers better support students.

ACCESS is not graded, but it is important for students to try their best and take their time. Showing focus, effort, and responsibility during testing is a great way to demonstrate our ACCEPT Core Values.

MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Mitchell High School Families,

I hope you and your families are doing well and starting the new year with energy and optimism. It’s hard to believe it’s already 2026! These are exciting times that highlight how important a strong education is, especially as we focus on innovation and working together. At Mitchell High School, we will keep aiming for higher achievement, sharing the great things happening at our school, and building Marauders Nation into a community known for excellence.

We have many exciting events to start the second semester. Early this week, students, staff, and community members can hear from Dr. Tommie Mabry, an international speaker, well-known educator, and best-selling author. His story of resilience and transformation has inspired people around the world. I hope his visit motivates and encourages our school family as we get back to our important work. Students return to school on Wednesday, January 7. They will start with class meetings to review first-semester behavior, attendance, and grades (BAG) for each class, and to go over school norms and expectations for a safe and structured campus. These meetings are tailored to each grade and focus on what matters most for those students. On Friday, January 9, our multi-lingual learners (MLLs) will attend an ACCESS assembly to help them prepare for the annual standardized test.

These are just a few things that we have planned to enter the new year and second semester on the right foot. Students and families are encouraged to reflect on first-semester performance, set new goals for success, and take an active approach in their education journey. The number one way to student achievement is consistent access to high-quality instruction. A strong education is a major factor in breaking cycles of intergenerational poverty.

Let’s continue to support and celebrate our students as they reach new heights. Together, we are building a future filled with opportunity and success for every Marauder. Thank you for your ongoing dedication to our school community, and let’s continue to get those WINS - We Increase Numbers by believing in our Students!

A Note About College Applications and Post-Secondary Planning:

Senior students still needing help completing their college applications should see Mrs. Montez or Mr. Cooks in the Future Center. If students are not interested in attending college directly after high school, we still need to meet with you! There are lots of other opportunities for students who are interested in apprenticeships, internships, military, etc.

Students With Jobs Outside of School/Potential High School Credit:

For any student who is employed and has not filled out the application for high school credit in Schoolinks, please see Mrs. Montez or Mr. Cooks in the Future Center. Students who work a certain number of hours within a semester can earn high school credits.

The Future Center would also like to wish all students a great first week back!
