Principal's Message
Assalam Aleikum!
Dear NISL Families,
As we approach the final stretch of the school year, please be advised of the upcoming assessments and events:
i-Ready Diagnostic Assessments (K–12):
Next week, students in grades K–8 will take their final i-Ready Diagnostic Assessments in Reading and Math. This assessment is a key measure of academic growth and readiness for the next grade. Students in grades 2–12 are participating in data chats with their teachers to reflect on their progress and set goals before and after the test.
Teachers will be emailing parents their child’s i-Ready results and a summary of their data chat, so families can see the progress made throughout the year and celebrate successes.
High school students completed their i-Ready assessments last week and are now preparing for their Advanced Placement (AP) Exams.
AP Exams & Dual Credit Finals (High School):
From May 5–16, students in grades 9–12 will be taking their AP exams and Mishkah University Dual Credit Course Finals. Subjects include:
AP Biology
AP US History
AP Language & Composition
AP Psychology
Mishkah University ISES-171 Manners
Mishkah University ISEF-151 Fiqh of Worship I
Specific test dates and times are listed on the high school calendar.
Standardized Testing Week – May 12–16:
Grades K–8 will take Terra Nova NEXT tests in Reading, Math, Language, Science, and Social Studies (KG does not test in Science or Social Studies).
Grades 8–11 will take the PreACT 8/9 or PreACT, covering English, Reading, Math, and Science.
These assessments are standardized and become part of each student’s official academic record.
What’s the difference between i-Ready and standardized tests?
i-Ready measures how well your child is learning grade-level skills in Reading and Math. It shows how much progress they’ve made since the beginning of the year.
Standardized tests, like Terra Nova and PreACT, compare your child’s performance with students across the country. These results show how your child is doing in comparison to others at the same grade level.
Only 14 school days remain! Please help ensure your child is present each day and avoid scheduling any appointments during school hours. Your encouragement makes a difference! Pplease talk with your child about doing their best on these important assessments.
Graduation & End-of-Year Awards Ceremonies
Let’s celebrate the hard work and accomplishments of our students! Please join us for the following events:
PreK Graduation – Friday, May 23, at 6:30 PM at NISL 6500 Six Mile Lane
KG Graduation – Friday, May 23, at 12:00 PM at NISL 6500 Six Mile Lane
5th, 8th, and 12th Grade Graduation & Awards Ceremony – Saturday, May 24, at 11:00 AM at the University of Louisville Founders Union Building
At the Saturday event, we will also recognize students who have been on the Honor Roll and Principal’s List all year, and present Presidential Awards to 5th, 8th, and 12th grade graduates.
Thank you for your partnership in supporting a strong finish to the school year!
Sincerely,
Aisha Blagaia
