CCC Parent/Guardian Rep. Needed

Curriculum Coordinating Committee
Parent/Guardian Representative Needed
August 2023
Dear Parents/Guardians:
My name is Vail Kieser and I’m thrilled to be the Director of Teaching and Learning in Lake Forest District 67. This is my second year in the District and it’s great to be back to serve our students, staff, and community for the 2023-24 school year. Previously, my educational journey included experience as a classroom teacher, instructional coach, middle school assistant principal, and elementary building principal. All of these roles have helped to bring forth various perspectives for my current role!
An important perspective to bring to our District work is through our parents. One of the ways we seek parent involvement is through the Curriculum Coordinating Committee. It is composed of teachers, administrators, and parents, thus representing multiple perspectives about the work we do for our students.
The purpose of this committee includes, yet may not be limited to:
Consider plans for curriculum review/evaluation
Receive input regarding curriculum related matters
Serve in an advisory capacity to the administration and Board of Education
The District is seeking to fill parent/guardian vacancies for a three-year CCC term. Appointments to the committee will be based upon interest and qualifications.
Those interested in serving on the CCC should apply using this application form. Qualifications include the ability to analyze and discuss curricular issues, to participate in collective decision-making, and to communicate effectively. Applications are due by 8:00 a.m. on Friday, September 15, 2023.
Meetings will be held one to two times each trimester with the first meeting in person on Thursday, October 12 at 4:00. Meetings may meet in person or virtually, depending on the time and purpose.
Applicants will be informed of membership by Friday, September 29, 2023. Thank you for considering this opportunity!
Sincerely,
Vail Kieser
Director of Teaching & Learning
