URGENT - BUS PASSES EXPIRE SEPTEMBER 30
Attention students! The Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) has updated guidelines for its Youth Ride Free program, which allows youth ages 6 to 18 to travel anywhere in Orange County on an OC Bus for free.
To keep rides free, parents or guardians must register your Wave card online by September 30, 2026. Unregistered cards will revert to regular fare accounts after the deadline.
Ask your parent/guardian to update your student account before the deadline. Details can be found at https://octa.net/getting-around/bus/oc-bus/fares-and-passes/youth-ride-free.
EXTRA BUS TRANSPORTATION ON FRIDAYS
The Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) has opened a "School Tripper" bus time for OCSA students on Friday afternoons. On Fridays, there will be an extra #83 bus that starts at Mainplace Mall at 2:42 p.m. then stops at the Main St. & 10th St. bus stop (in front of the DMS building) before heading to Santa Ana Blvd. & Santiago St. at 2:57 p.m. and arriving at Laguna Hills Transportation Center by 3:42 p.m. Click here for more information.
U.S. SENATE PAGE PROGRAM
Are you an 11th grader interested in politics? Join former U.S. Senate Page and current OCSA student, Jayden Kim (jayden.kim@ocsarts.net), for an information session on Friday, September 11 during lunch in DMS 101.
Senate Pages witness the Senate's operations first-hand, work directly with all 100 U.S. Senators, have unrestricted access to the U.S. Capitol, attend the State of the Union address, and create lifelong friendships and connections.
HIGH SCHOOL SCIENCE OLYMPIAD TEAM
Do you like science? Do you want to show off your knowledge and compete against other schools? Consider trying out for the high school Science Olympiad team! To find out how, attend the mandatory information session on Friday, September 11 from 2:45-4:00 pm in DMS 223. Join our Google Classroom using code w4oafkg5 or email sciolyocsa@gmail.com for more information. Tryouts will begin after school starting Friday, September 18.
PICTURES/ID CARDS
Students who did not attend On-Campus Registration and have their picture taken will receive their OCSA student ID card after they participate in Picture Make-Up Day on Wednesday, September 23. You do not need to fill out any forms - you are on our list and will receive a call slip during one of your classes on September 23 with instructions for getting your picture taken.
If you've lost your student ID card, please check with the Tower front desk receptionist to see if it has been recovered. If your ID card is not at the front desk, your parent/guardian will need to purchase a new one at myschoolbucks.com. You will not need to have your picture retaken.
Did you have your picture taken, but want to retake it? Please complete this form to request an appointment. Retake spots are limited and assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, so be sure to submit your request as soon as possible.
PEER TUTOR SIGN-UPS
Applications for students wishing to volunteer as peer tutors this year are now in Google Classroom (code: gbrmqucx). If you are interested in working with a student, carefully read the instructions and expectations for peer tutors in the Google Classroom. When you have done this, please complete and submit the application form as soon as possible. Once you have submitted your application, Ms. Davies will contact your reference teachers to confirm your ability to tutor. We hope to start sending out peer tutor and tutee matches in the next few weeks. Tutors may apply to join the program at any time during the year, but please note you will be matched with an appropriate student as the need arises, so please be patient. All time confirmed by OCSA as a peer tutor may be counted towards service hours, CSF, and NHS.
Please contact maggie.davies@ocsarts.net if you have any questions about the peer tutoring program at OCSA.
TEDxOCSA
Passionate about an idea? Apply now to be a speaker at TEDxOCSA’s event, themed Timeless, and bring your vision onto stage for an unforgettable experience. Applications close September 30 at 11:59 p.m. Join the Google Classroom for more information, using code yp7w7txa.
