Hello Rocky Point Families Hello Rocky Point Families

We hope that all of our families were able to enjoy some down time and make special memories during the Thanksgiving holiday break. As we reflect on student attendance during the month of November, we were not able to achieve our goal of 95% attendance for the month of November as a school. However, I would like to recognize 4th and 5th grade students for achieving 95% attendance for the month for their respective grade levels. We recognize that there were some illnesses that impacted attendance in November and appreciate families following the rules of keeping students home if fevers of 100.4 or higher were present or any repetitive vomiting. Let’s strive to reach 95% attendance as a school for our 3 weeks of school in December!

Science Fair Science Fair

Please remember if your child is submitting a science fair project completed at home for our school science fair, it needs to be submitted no later than Monday, December 8th. Our school science fair will take place on Tuesday, December 9 with three finalists moving on to the district competition in January. Science Fair projects will be up for families to view during our upcoming winter concerts.

Winter Concerts Winter Concerts

It is that time of year to enjoy beautiful sounds and performances from our students during their winter concerts. Our K-2 Winter Concert will take place on Thursday, December 11 at 6:00pm and our 3-5 Winter Concert will take place on Tuesday, December 16 at 6:00pm. Our PTO will be selling concessions at these events. We know Mrs. Black and our students have great performances and student showcases in store for us!

Ronald McDonald Pop Tab Challenge Ronald McDonald Pop Tab Challenge

As a part of a community service project, our school will be collecting pop tabs from cans for the remainder of the school year to donate to the Ronald McDonald House. Collecting can pop tabs supports the operating costs of providing a home away from home for families with sick children. Please begin collecting and sending in tabs from soda, food and pet food cans! Let’s work together to collect as many pop tabs as possible!

Million Minute Reading Challenge And Homework Expectations Million Minute Reading Challenge And Homework Expectations

Our reading challenge at RPE in conjunction with the PCS Million Minute Reading Challenge is ongoing. Please make sure to complete your child’s paper reading log each night. Again, we will enter all information into the google form for our school during each student’s media time each week. Please note this time can include independent reading or partner reading with you or a sibling. In addition to this reading challenge, in alignment with our Wit and Wisdom curriculum, short fluency passages are coming home with students. Please take the time to listen to your child read these passages each evening.

Please continue to support students in completing their adaptive practice in their online Freckle program on their chromebooks throughout the week. Please support your child in completing a total of 45 minutes at home each week in math for grades 2-5 and in reading for grades 3-5. Help guides are linked below:
