Our Tumuaki / Principal

  • School Photos: The staff and students looked very tidy on Wednesday for our annual school photos. Further information will come out around ordering photos. Keep an eye on the newsletter for this.

  • CORE Education and our Community of Learning: On Monday and Tuesday of this week teachers and school leaders gathered to receive professional learning from our provider Core Education. We enjoy gathering together with our other Community of Learning schools to grow and develop a shared understanding of good teaching and learning together.

  • Weet-Bix Card Swap Meets: We have started up our swap meets for the Weet-bix Stat Attack Cards 2022. We will do this during intervals. If you have any spare cards you don't want drop them at the school and we will use them to swap with the children. Thanks.

Term Three: Principal's Challenge - Lego Masters Edendale 2022

We love Lego with all its creativity so Term Three's Principal's Challenge is Lego Masters Edendale 2022. We've had some great Lego competitions over the past few years with amazing lego creations. I'm looking forward to all our creativity for another year.

Theme:

This year's theme is THINGS WE EAT. What will you create? An apple? A hamburger? A cake? A carrot? A plate with dinner on it? Fish and chips? A chocolate bar? Lollies? A doughnut?

How delicious can you make your Lego creation?

Age Groups:

  • New Entrants
  • Year One
  • Year Two
  • Year Three
  • Year Four
  • Year Five
  • Year Six
  • Open Section: Parents, grandparents, past students, community members.

Judging Criteria:

  • Attention to detail - did you think of everything in your build?
  • Use of colour - is the colour scheme consistent and thought through?

  • The originality of design - you cannot build from an instruction kit. It must be all your ideas, from scratch. This is about you being creative.

  • Technical building skills - How do you use the blocks? Are there ways that you use them that are different to what they were intended?

  • A strong story - Can you create a story around your creation?

Entry Instructions:

  • Please have your creation in a sturdy container.
  • Clearly name your container.
  • Include your year level.
  • Have your entry in by Thursday 8th September.

Our Kura News and Information

Pre-Loved Uniforms - Available at the Office

We have a good supply of pre-loved uniforms for sale at the school office.

We are very grateful for families who, once their child has left Edendale Primary School, bring their uniforms back. This helps us to keep a good supply of items to help others.

A reminder, that the best way to ensure your child's items stay with them, is to clearly name the items. This means if any uniform items are left somewhere around the school we can get it back to the right person.

Unclaimed items are washed at the end of term and incorporated into our supply for sale.

Book Club - Issue 5

Scholastic Book Club Issue 5 has gone home.

All orders need to be returned to the office by Friday 12th August. You can also order online.

Most Valuable Pupil: Team Tui

MVP for Excellence - Tohungatanga in Team Tui this week is Piper Muir!

Piper is a fantastic role model for Excellence and all of our other school values because we can always count on her to be doing the right thing at the right time.

Piper walks into school wearing her uniform with pride and will wait until the school bell rings before coming to the classroom to complete her jobs.

Piper shows excellence in all her school work. She works very hard in every subject, completing each task to a very high standard. Her work is often used as an example for other students of what their work should look like. Piper has made great progress in her learning and has achieved her goals because of the mahi she puts in every day.

Piper likes to be challenged and gives 100% in anything she does, especially on the sporting field. She shows responsibility for her learning by completing her home partnership tasks, even with her busy after school schedule.

Piper, you should be very proud of yourself and all that you have accomplished so far this year. Keep aiming high because you can achieve anything when you put your mind to it.
