Annual Food Service and Custodial Appreciation Event

Last month, the month of Thanksgiving, PTSA Council hosted our annual food service and custodial appreciation event - thanks to generous donations from the LPS community, we were able to pack 215 bags for staff members across the district! We'd like to thank everyone for their continued support of these district-wide events, as well as unit members for attending our meeting and helping to pack and distribute bags. Stay tuned for our transportation event this spring!

Founders' Day 2026 Founders' Day 2026

WHAT is Founders’ Day?

This is the one night of the year when all 22 PTA/PTSA units gather together to celebrate our past, present and future work. We also honor student, parent, and staff honorees from each unit, as well as the LPS educators of the year. (More info about honorees below!)

WHEN is Founders’ Day?

Wednesday, February 25, 2026. Doors open at 5:30 pm, dinner at 6:00 pm

WHERE is Founders’ Day?

NEW LOCATION!!! Hellenic Cultural Center, 36375 Joy Rd, Westland, MI 48185

WHEN is payment/RSVP/honoree info due?

Please submit your parent/staff/student (where applicable) info to Council by Friday, December 19th so we can get the program rolling over break! THIS IS A FIRM DATE!! ANY ENTRIES RECEIVED AFTER DECEMBER 19TH WILL NOT BE IN THE PROGRAM!

Please submit your headcount for the event, as well as payment, by Friday, February 6th.

Distinguished Staff Nominee Form: https://forms.gle/UYqUsPcATUL5y7rSA

Distinguished Student Nominee Form: https://forms.gle/6AuM4rYtd6B69zDq9

WHERE do I send my payment/RSVP info?

Please make checks payable to LIVONIA PTSA COUNCIL and mail them to: Andrea Malenfant 11303 Cranston Livonia, MI 48150

WHO attends Founders’ Day?

This can vary from unit to unit.

Typical attendees include:

  • executive board members
  • spouses
  • building admin.
  • building staff
  • parent honoree
  • staff honoree
  • student honoree (7th-12th secondary buildings only)

WHO are the honorees?

Each year, we ask each unit to select ONE staff member, ONE parent, and (for secondary buildings) ONE student honoree. Preferably, your honorees are not members of your executive board, but you can certainly honor them if you choose! Think of the person who’s always willing to step up and volunteer for PTA events, attend meetings, and lend a helping hand to your PTA whenever it’s needed. ALL honorees must be a member of your PTA/PTSA. After all, this event was created to honor the work of your PTA. Honorees will be presented with a certificate at the event.

What’s the seating situation?

Each table seats TEN people. Most units purchase at least one table. If your unit has an odd number of people, we will do our best to seat them at an adjacent table. For example, if your RSVP is for 11 people, we would split your party into 2 tables (maybe 5 people at one table, 6 at the other) so that the 11th person isn’t sitting at a table by themselves with people they don’t know. The seating chart is carefully created to accommodate the number of people in attendance, the voting process for the centerpiece contest, and for the serving staff of the venue as it pertains to those in attendance with certain food allergies. PLEASE DO NOT MOVE GUESTS TO A DIFFERENT TABLE OR SEAT DURING THE EVENT! This happened last year, and it caused a lot of confusion. If you don’t want your guests split up, then we suggest an even number of attendees.

*Please note: Council will pay for your honorees’ tickets! (2 for elementary, 3 for secondary). Please include them in your headcount, but not on your payment.

Let’s talk centerpieces!

Each unit will need to create a centerpiece for their table(s). Centerpieces will follow the same theme as Reflections – this year’s theme is “I Belong”. Get creative! A team of judges will be awarding some FABULOUS PRIZES! Centerpieces should be unique and NOT THE SAME as the previous year. Once judging of the centerpieces commences, DO NOT MOVE YOUR CENTERPIECE FROM THE TABLE UNTIL THE EVENT HAS CONCLUDED. Also, ALL centerpieces must be taken home, or they will be discarded.

What’s this I hear about a slideshow?

We will have a slideshow playing during the event with pictures from each unit. Some examples of photos include back to school events, Halloween, roller skating nights, etc. Please submit AND LABEL your photos to the Founders’ Day Google album: https://photos.app.goo.gl/hYeSm9p9yhyH7PnE7 The deadline for submitting photos is WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 18th. AGAIN, THIS IS A FIRM SUBMISSION DATE!! The link will be closed after the 18th.

50/50 Raffle!

There will be a 50/50 Raffle again this year! Will you be the lucky winner?! Be sure to bring some cash! Good luck!

Coolidge Elementary

Coolidge PTA has had a great month! We had kicked off our Get Moving Fundraiser for our Dance-A-Thon and we surpassed our first goal of free admission to our Fall Festival, a crazy hat/hair day, then surpassed our second goal which was having Mrs. Pierson our principal serve lunch to our students. Finally, we raised $21,250 which was unbelievable! Students will now be rewarded with a Kona Ice Truck in the spring! Such a fantastic job Coolidge Cougars! Students enjoyed a time slot in the gym which looked fantastic decorated for Halloween! Mr. Skeebo (our music teacher) was the DJ who cranked all the tunes all day (crowd pleasers were K Pop Demon Hunters and Taylor Swift!) and included a glow in the dark tunnel!

We had a fantastic Pita Way fundraiser and put on our annual Fall Festival which included bounce houses, Bugs on Wheels, a photo booth, scavenger hunt and games and dancing. It was very well attended! We also hosted our students at Riverside Arena on October 21 with a skating party that was well attended.

We are looking toward our Holiday Santa Shop in mid December and are currently running a Merricraft Flower Bouquet punch card. We will be having a Dining for Dollars at Buddy's Pizza on December 9th all day!

Finally, we want to give a shout out to Celebration Station at 6 Mile and Middlebelt who consistently support Coolidge with many artistic balloon designs which they donate for our events. We are so appreciative and would love our community to support them.

Cooper Upper Elementary

How did we already fly past November? We celebrated a couple different ways this month. We had two out of the three classes from our top classes with donations from the Color Run have parties! We had one class with the ice cream party and the other class had pizza with the principals! Our Top Class that received the most boos got to enjoy fresh donuts and cider! Our goal is for our students to participate in as much as possible and we had one of the best turn outs for Reflections this year! During the month, we also had two Dine and Donates! Our goal has been to have multiple a month and we have been doing a great job with that! We had Dine and Donates at Pita Way and Panera Bread! We finished the month strong with thanking our amazing staff with our Charcuterie Board Staff Lunch! We had so many amazing donations from families! We don't think we can ever thank our staff enough!

Frost Middle

As we approach the holidays, it is a perfect time to say THANK YOU to all the volunteers who helped with our Frost Middle School PTSA Holiday Arts & Craft Show. Frost students, parents, alumni, members of Churchill High School National Honor Society, Frost National Junior Honor Society, Livonia PTA members, and so many others band together over three days to prep the school, support the crafters, offer delicious lunch options, and help us return the school back to "normal" for our students to return Monday morning. The event is successful year after year, because of you. Thank you to those who shared their culinary expertise and donated baked goods. I cannot begin to share enough great feedback about the loaf of bread my family enjoyed. We have some really talented families.

Eleven of our artistic Frost students submitted Reflections entries. This year's theme is "I Belong." We are anxiously awaiting to hear who will have their project advance to the state level.

Our 8th grade Frost PTSA members are eligible to apply for a scholarship to support the trip to Washington D.C.

Kennedy Elementary

November has been a nice month over at Kennedy Elementary.

Our PTA ran Mileage Club continues to be a success! Every Tuesday, parent volunteers come during lunch recess to help track participating students’ mileage. Once they reach a mile each student is awarded is a charm and necklace, and they keep collecting these charms for every mile earned. We couldn’t do this amazing endeavor without our wonderful volunteers. The club will take a pause for the winter months but will return in the spring.

Our PTA offered a fun dine-out at PF Changs in November and had an awesome turnout! Our families are always so great at supporting our school and who doesn’t want a night off from cooking?

Kennedy’s holiday shop took place the week prior to Thanksgiving and the kids absolutely loved picking out presents for their loved ones. Our PTA had a wonderful turnout of parent volunteers and this continues to be a favorite way for everyone to get into the holiday spirit.

Our PTA Board collected our Reflections entries mid-November and we are all impressed with the creativity of the students who entered their projects. Way to go, Kennedy Stars!

Kennedy’s 4th graders enjoyed an informative field trip to the Matthaei Botanical Gardens in Ann Arbor. Even though the weather was cold, the students, staff and parent volunteers still had a memorable time.

We would like to say thank you to the Livonia PTSA Council for supporting our custodial and food staff this month. They were all very appreciative of the goodie bags.

We hope everyone has a beautiful December!

Webster Elementary

Webster Elementary PTA funded and organized a Wildlife Safari assembly for our students on November 25th. It was our top whole school prize from our Walk-A-Thon fundraiser. The students and staff loved this assembly. They enjoyed learning about lots of different creatures, and getting to pet and interact with them as well.

To celebrate and thank our teachers and staff, the PTA distributed "Thankful For You" notes for students and/or parents to fill out. We then passed them out to our staff just before Thanksgiving break to let them know how much we appreciate them!
