Arrival to School

Getting started on time is very important to students. When a student arrives late to school, they miss out on getting the day started on a positive note. They miss important announcements, curriculum, and connections with other students and staff. Student arrival is between 7:15 and 7:35 am. Students enter the building and get their items in their lockers to start the day successfully. At 7:45, classes begin, the doors close, and students are considered late to school.

Starting on Monday, 8.25.25, if you arrive after 7:45 am, you must accompany your student to the front door to sign them in for an excused tardy. This prevents you from getting a call that your student was late to school and ensures all of us that your student was safe with you and did not go off campus and arrive late. Please help us ensure your child is safe and ready to start the day well by dropping them off by 7:35 am or signing them in excused tardy after 7:45 am.

Off and Away, Until the End of the Day!

The primary purpose of school is to provide all students with a quality education that fosters academic, emotional, and personal growth. Students need to focus their attention on the learning activities teachers have prepared. Cell phones, smart watches, and wireless earbuds are a significant distraction for students and make it challenging for them to focus on their academic and personal growth.

The expectations for electronic devices for all students at Gompers are identified below.

  • Students are allowed to bring cellphones to school. However, they must be turned off and put away in their locker while at school.
  • Students may only use their phones at school if they have received permission from a staff member. We understand parents and students need to connect sometimes, especially after dismissal time.
  • Students are not permitted to take photos or videos at school or during arrival/dismissal times.
  • Earpods and other Bluetooth headphones/speakers should not be brought to or used at school. We will provide headphones for students who need them throughout the year.

Students violating these expectations are subject to disciplinary consequences and may have their electronic devices held in the office until the end of the school day. This will be communicated to all students; however, we ask that all families also communicate this. Families and staff must work together for student success.

We understand that student cell phones are a technology that our families depend on to keep in communication with their children before and after school. We also know that these devices may be a distraction at school and oftentimes lead to poor decisions, resulting in school consequences. We thank all of our families for their continued support this year.

Student IDs

All students have been issued an ID for the 2025-2026 school year. Students and staff at Gompers are required to wear their ID at school daily. Additionally, the student ID is needed to ride the school bus, receive breakfast or lunch, borrow books from the library, enter after-school events, and participate in other activities. Most importantly, student IDs are a critical part of our school safety by helping to confirm student identification during an emergency, evacuation, or reunification need.

If a student forgets their ID, they may use our phone in the office to call home and ask a parent/guardian to bring it to school. A student may also be issued a one-day Temporary ID. If a student forgets their ID again, they will need to purchase a replacement ID for $5. Please discuss with your student why it's essential to have their ID at school daily.

Chromebooks

An essential tool in the learning process is the school-issued Chromebook. Lessons, activities, interactive resources, assessments, and much more are accessed through the Chromebook. Students must:

  1. Fully charge their Chromebook each night.
  2. Carry it in the protective carrier case provided to them.
  3. Bring their Chromebook to school daily.
  4. Use their Chromebook at school and at home for school-related work and refrain from using it for other non-academic activities.
  5. Treat their Chromebooks respectfully to avoid damage and repair costs. Excessive or intentional damage to the Chromebook may result in fees and replacement costs to parents/guardians.

Students who forget their Chromebooks may borrow a Chromebook in each classroom at the teacher's discretion, as long as they are available. Loaner Chromebooks in the office are available to students who need their Chromebook repaired. Barrowing a Chromebook in the classroom is not a guarantee (only 3 in each classroom), and should not be relied on regularly. Priority will be given to students who most infrequently have forgotten their Chromebook. If no Chromebook is available, teachers will provide students with paper and pencil activities.

Picture Day

On Monday, September 8, 2025, students are asked to bring their smiles and dress their best for their school pictures. Families will have an opportunity to purchase photos from our photographer after picture day. The images are used for their student ID, yearbook, and school information system. More details and package options will be available soon. Save the date, and prepare to take a beautiful and professional picture to remember the 2025-2026 school year.
