Hatching Out - Curriculum Celebration
The Kindergarten Hatching Out Curriculum Celebration was a wonderful event, filled with fun, engagement, and excitement for our students. Thank you for the incredible efforts of our parents for organizing the event. Their dedication and creativity transformed the day into a memorable experience, with activities that captivated the children's excitement and brought their learning to life. From interactive games to creative crafts and songs, every moment was thoughtfully planned and executed. Thank you to the kindergarten teachers for everything they have done this year for our students, as well as Ms. Friedman for songs at the end!
5th Grade Moving-On
This Tuesday, we will hold the Haynes 5th Grade Moving-On Ceremony, a celebration marking the culmination of our students' journey at Josiah Haynes Elementary School. This event honors their hard work, growth, and achievements over the years, as they transition from elementary school to the exciting new experience of Curtis Middle School or another academic path.

Staff Updates
This spring, we have conducted searches for a School Psychologist as well as a Special Educator. I am pleased to share we have signed two professionals to join us here at Haynes, Grace LaCamera - School Psychologist and Meg Lawler - Special Educator. Below is more information about them:
Grace LaCamera
Grace LaCamera joins us as the School Psychologist for the Haynes Elementary School. Grace recently received her MA/CAGS degrees from William James College’s School Psychology program and completed her internship in the Wellesley Public Schools. Her graduate training and field experiences have solidified and reinforced her passion working in education and collaborating with students and families to address diverse student needs. Grace has worked with students across all grade levels and has supported other related staff with the implementation of school-wide practices to support learning.
Prior to graduate school, Grace received her bachelor’s degree from Fairfield University. Grace grew up in Mansfield and now lives in Wellesley and enjoys running, reading, and spending time with her family and friends. She looks forward to joining Haynes as a School Psychologist and is eager to support the community!
Meg Lawler
Meg Lawler started her teaching career as a middle school special education teacher. Early on, she taught in several places, including Somerville, MA and Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Meg worked in Andover, MA for 14 years as the special education teacher on a sixth grade team, raising her two boys and living on the north shore. Five years ago, family circumstances brought Meg and her family to Long Island, New York. There she worked as an elementary Resource Room teacher and co-taught second grade in an integrated classroom. This summer, Meg will be returning to her home state of Massachusetts. She is thrilled about starting a new adventure in Sudbury.
Attendance Letters
School attendance is crucial for student success, as regular attendance fosters academic achievement, social development, and consistent learning progress. Attendance letters are being sent today to families of students that have hit our threshold for absences or tardies:
- Increments of 5 unexcused absences
- Increments of 10 Total absences (combined unexcused and excused absences)
- Increments of 5 unexcused tardies
- Increments of 5 unexcused early dismissals
School Supplies
As a staff, we have identified the materials we will provide all students with, as well as the items that we are going to ask families to provide. This year, we will no longer use the company that organized school kits for the students with supplies. Instead, our grade levels have put together lists of items we are requesting families to provide. Teachers will add the lists to their summer communications and the list will be posted on our website.
If you would like to request assistance with these items, please reach out to Principal Amitrano at bryant_amitrano@sudbury.k12.ma.us.
