Second Home is brewing up some spooky fun as we dive into the magic of October! Our participants are engaging in seasonally inspired activities designed to strengthen daily living skills, build confidence in work readiness, and foster meaningful social connections.

Laundry Skills

Participants are learning the full laundry process from start to finish. This includes sorting clothes by color, distinguishing between dirty and clean items, operating the washer and dryer safely, removing common stains, folding and hanging clothes neatly, buttoning and zipping garments, and organizing their wardrobes for easy access. These skills support independence and confidence in managing personal responsibilities.

Post Office

Participants are practicing a variety of workplace skills that mirror real-world job tasks. This includes sorting and organizing mail and paperwork, operating the copier, safely shredding documents, preparing items for mailing, and taking a supervised walk to the post office to drop off items. These activities help develop time management, attention to detail, and professional responsibility.

This month in our Community-Based Instruction (CBI) program, participants enjoyed hands-on learning experiences within the community. At Stop & Shop participants are practicing grocery shopping skills, budgeting, list-following, and safe navigation of a public store. Verona Park was a Leisure-focused outing promoting socialization, physical activity, and community engagement. At Farms View stand we will select pumpkins, providing hands-on experience with decision-making, handling money, and outdoor exploration.
