October 1, 2021

October is always a fun month at school. The weather and seasons begin to change as we transition into our second month of school. We want to recognize and thank our students, teachers, staff and parents for a wonderful September. By now, our students are settling in well to the transition back to school. It has been a true joy seeing our students engaged in their classrooms with their teachers and peers learning.

A Message From Our School Counselor

Hello and welcome to fall! We have been enjoying some beautiful fall weather and couldn’t be more excited to see all of our students’ smiling faces in school! For some, this has been a significant transition back into the school building after quite a long time being virtual. Our elementary schools have counseling staff for students should they need extra support acclimating to the many changes we have all experienced in the recent past. Please reach out to me any time with any questions or concerns that may arise during the school year.

Also, please take a minute to review our attendance policies. They can be found in the Student Handbook and also on the district webpage (www.mv.org) under the Board Policies section. Please note that the district requires a written note for all absences. If a child is absent three (3) or more days in a row, a doctor’s note is required in order for the absences to be excused. Consistent daily attendance is important for all of our students to be successful in both their academics and social learning.

I wish all of our students and families a wonderful and healthy year ahead!

Attendance

Punctuality and regular attendance are essential skills that children need to learn at an early age to prepare for life long career opportunities. Demonstrate to your children that school is important by supporting the effort to have your child(ren) arrive on time each school day. Consistent attendance and punctuality is critical to each child’s maximum learning experience. Please see our Attendance Letter attached below.

Water Bottles

We strongly encourage each student to come to school with a water bottle marked with their name each day. Due to current safety regulations, our water fountains are disbaled but the filling stations are operational.

Class DoJo

We are thrilled to have so many parents/guardians connected to our Class Dojo. If you need to get in contact with one of the principals, we encourage you to call the main office or send an email rather than send a Class DoJo message.

Masks

As per our Health and Safety Plan, masks are required when in the building. Please be sure to send your child to school each day with a mask.
