Dear Parents,

We had an excellent opening of schools. As we approach September, students have successfully settled into routines and expectations, and the rigor of instruction is steadily growing across our classrooms. A few important dates to be aware of:

September 9,10 & 11th: PM1 ELA Assessment K-5 (Campus closed during testing)

September 11th: 9/11 Heroes’ Day (Wear Red, White & Blue)

September 15, 16, & 17th: PM1 MATH Assessment K-5 (Campus closed during testing)

September 15th: SAC Meeting

September 21st: NO SCHOOL (Teacher Professional Learning Day)

SCHOOL ADVISORY COUNCIL-SAC

First meeting will be Tuesday, September 15th at 4:30PM in the Media Center

The School Advisory Council (SAC) is looking for members! This organization exists to maintain a system of school improvement and educational accountability as provided by statue and State Board of Education rule. We need representatives from our various communities to assist in the continuation of school improvement and accountability to the community. The SAC membership is determined through an election process. All meetings are open to the public. Members need to attend one evening meeting a month.

Be on the lookout for a flyer to come home with more information about nominations in your child’s Wednesday folder. Nomination forms are due back to school by Tuesday, September 1st.

Car Rider- Reminders

AM Drop off

-Ensure the students exit the car from the passenger side only. We do not want students crossing in between cars as this becomes a safety concern.

-Students can open their own doors to exit anywhere there is a sidewalk. We have had an increase in the number of car riders. Staff and Safety Patrols do their best to support and open car doors but may not reach every door. When students do not unload it backs up the car line causing delays and traffic backups.

-Pull all the way up to unload. Please do not stop directly in front of the gate. This helps us to unload the greatest number of cars at once.

-Students wanting breakfast should arrive by 8:00AM to allow time to eat before the bell.

-Arrive prior to 8:15AM to ensure students make it into their classroom before the news which starts at 8:18AM.

-Students must be inside of their classroom prior to the 8:25AM bell or they are considered tardy. Car Rider gate closes just prior to 8:25AM. If your child is late, a parent must get out of the car and sign them in at the office.

PM Pick Up

-You must have your car sign displayed. Cars without signs will be asked to pull around to the office and verify their identity with a photo ID before we release a student. If you have a change in pick-up person who doesn’t have a car sign, you must notify the front office prior to 2:00PM. Emails to teachers are not preferred as they may not be seen, especially if staff members are absent.

PM Walker Area

-Students are not permitted to load or unload in the middle of the street.

-Parents must walk up to meet their child or children can be sent walking on their own.

-We ask that the area between the two main intersections/crosswalks remain free of cars to ensure visibility for students to cross safely.

LEADER IN ME

The Leader in Me inspires schools to build leadership and life skills in students, creates a high-trust school culture, and lays the foundation for sustained academic achievement.

Leader in Me seeks to:

  • Create a culture of trust and engagement.
  • Empower students to lead their own lives and make a difference with others.
  • Provide students with tools to better achieve goals.
  • Develop student voice.

During this school year students will continue to deepen their understanding of each habit as we work to develop the whole child and support opportunities for student leadership.

Greetings, Lake Park families! I hope your student is having a wonderful start to the new school year. Please see below for more information about how I can support your student throughout the year.

New Families to Lake Park

Welcome to LPE! We are so excited to have you join our Panther family. Please do not hesitate to reach out if there is anything I can do to help your student have a positive and successful experience at LPE.

Student Check-Ins

My goal is to support students and help them have a positive school day. If your child is experiencing challenges or needs additional support, please let me or their teacher know.

On your child's Emergency Card, you will see a section labeled "Non-Academic Counseling" with a Yes/No option. By selecting Yes, you are giving permission for me to provide support to your child if they are having a difficult day or need support managing emotions, or social situations.

Mrs. Saba's Counselor's Corner

Students in grades 1-5 have received an invitation in Canvas to join “Mrs. Saba's Counselor's Corner”.

This online resource includes engaging videos, read-alouds, and activities that help students learn healthy ways to manage their feelings and build social-emotional skills.

If a student would like to meet with me, they can click the "Request to See Mrs. Saba" link. This link connects students to a request form and provides helpful strategies for managing difficult emotions while they wait to meet with me.
