Safety Spotlight — Digital Privacy and Security

Digital Citizenship is a crucial part of our education of students in West Linn-Wilsonville. This month's digital citizenship theme is Privacy and Security.

With the start of the school year, and as students are beginning their use of online resources and tools, the opportunity to remind them of their right to access these things is very important, and it is just as important to secure these resources from potential use by others.

Students are taught the importance of using strong passwords as well as the need to routinely change them. Students are also often taught to be suspicious of online scams or schemes that aim to access important data. Learn more about the importance of internet privacy and security by visiting the District Website.

Interested in Joining WLWV Schools as a Paraeducator?

Several schools in the West Linn-Wilsonville School District are looking to fill paraeducator positions for the current 2019-20 school year. Paraeducators provide instruction, support, and services to students in a variety of learning environments. Paraeducators are a vital part of our schools, making lifelong impacts on student outcomes in a variety of areas.

In the West Linn-Wilsonville School District, paraeducators are expected to help teachers establish and maintain a climate of learning, work as a part of a team, and demonstrate initiative in responding to students’ day-to-day needs. Examples of duties include working individually and in small groups with students at all skill levels with the goal of fostering independence in the areas of academics, social skills, communication, behavior, and functional routines. Paraeducators often provide support for students in the general education classroom, gymnasium, lunchroom, playground, and in the community.

To learn more about this opportunity, please visit the employment section of the district website, or contact your school front office or principal for more information.

Mark Your Calendars —First District-Wide Early Release, Professional Growth Wednesday is this week!

About once or twice a month, students are released from school two hours early for the District's Professional Growth Wednesdays. Those two hours are used as time for teacher learning, giving staff an opportunity to collaborate and engage in professional development.

That work leads to better teachers and, in turn, better education for students. Mark your calendars for the following Professional Growth Wednesdays this school year. Please note that some Professional Growth Wednesdays affect primary schools only, so if you have students in middle or high school, they may experience a regular school day. Those instances are marked as PRIMARY LEVEL ONLY Professional Growth Wednesdays.
