River Mill Elementary - May 2nd
Dear River Mill Families,
As we approach May Break, we are excited for another week of learning and growth at River Mill! Our students are continuing to make great strides in their learning, and we’re eager to continue strong in the month of May. We encourage all families to keep the momentum going by ensuring that students continue to arrive on time, stay focused, and participate fully in their learning experiences.
Next week is a special time to recognize and appreciate the dedicated individuals who make River Mill such a wonderful place for our students to learn and grow. During Staff Appreciation Week, we will take a moment to celebrate our incredible staff members who work tirelessly to create a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for every child. If you have a moment, we encourage you to send a note, email, or even a quick message to the teachers, paraprofessionals, and staff members who have made a difference in your child’s life this year. Your thoughtful words go a long way in letting them know just how much they are valued. Thank you for helping us make this week extra special!
A Heartfelt Thank You
We want to extend our sincere thanks to our amazing Parent Teacher Organization and our incredible building secretaries for the thoughtful appreciation shown to both Trevor and me in honor of National School Principals Day. Your kindness and generosity truly meant a lot to us!
Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support and partnership in helping our students thrive.

How do you use reading, writing, and math skills (or other school subjects) on your job?
How do you use technology in your career field?
What type of education and training is needed for advancement into the career area?
Describe your job duties.
Describe a typical work day.
What talents and skills are necessary for success in your career field?
What personal traits are helpful in your career?

Be On Time and Stay All Day
At River Mill, we want to ensure every student has the best opportunity to learn and grow each day. Recently, we’ve noticed an increase in tardies and early pick-ups, and we want to remind families how important it is for students to be at school on time and stay for the full day. Arriving late can cause students to miss important instruction, while leaving early means they may not get the full benefit of their learning time. Every minute in the classroom matters! We understand that occasional appointments and emergencies happen, but whenever possible, please schedule these outside of school hours. Thank you for your support in making sure your child gets the most out of their school day!
Attendance Matters
Did you know that many of our youngest students miss about 10% of the school year—around 14 days, or just two days a month? This level of chronic absenteeism in elementary school can predict lower test scores and challenges with retention in later grades. Every day and every minute of school matters, contributing to your child's growth and success! Please help us support your child's learning by ensuring they attend school every day and arrive on time. Thank you for partnering with us to build strong habits for lifelong learning!
Time to Order Your Yearbook!
If you plan to order a yearbook for your student this year, you can purchase those at buytheyearbook.com or with exact cash or check in the office.
