Tardies (previously posted)
At Seckinger High School, we believe that showing up—on time and ready to learn—is one of the most important steps toward success. Consistent attendance and punctuality not only help students stay on track academically but also reinforce responsibility and respect for others’ time.
Beginning Monday, August 11th, we started documenting tardies to school and to class. If a student is not in the classroom at the conclusion of the tardy bell they will need to report to the nearest tardy station. Tardy stations are located in the attendance office, administrative office T202, administrative office T326 and administrative office T425.
Students who accumulate multiple tardies will receive consequences. After five total tardies, students will receive consequences that could include: administrative conference, parent contact, after school detention, silent lunch, and/or In-School Suspension.
Let’s work together to build strong habits that support academic achievement and uphold the Seckinger Standard!
Requesting CollegeBoard Accommodations (previously posted)
Parents of students with IEPs or 504s who are interested in applying for CollegeBoard assessment accommodations must submit the attached request form to Mrs. Emily Draper. For the October 22nd PSAT administration the deadline to submit requests is August 19th. If you have been approved for accommodations in the past you do NOT need to resubmit requests unless additional accommodations have been added. Forms can be emailed to Emily.Draper@gcpsk12.org or dropped off to T425.
Evolv is Coming to Our School (previously posted)
Dear Seckinger Families,
As part of Gwinnett County Public Schools’ (GCPS) continued commitment to student and staff safety, we are preparing to implement the Evolv weapons detection system at Seckinger High School starting on Monday, August 25th, 2025.
This system will be used during morning arrival at designated entry points. Evolv is a state-of-the-art, touchless screening technology designed to detect potential threats while allowing students and visitors to move quickly and safely into the building.
Here’s what you need to know:
- Entry Points: Look for clearly marked entrances with Evolv systems (Map Below)
* Entry Point #2 – Front Entrance near Fine Arts Hallway – Bus Riders
* Entry Point #3 – Attendance office – Car Riders and Student Drivers
- No Need to Unpack: Phones, keys, headphones and wallets should be placed in bookbags or purses.
- Secondary Screening: If an alert is triggered, a quick secondary screening may be required.
- Arrive Early: Car riders and drivers, please arrive several minutes early to avoid delays.
Families may already be familiar with the Evolv system, which was successfully used at GCPS football and basketball games last year and piloted in June at three high schools that hosted summer school. We appreciate your cooperation in helping ensure a smooth transition as we expand its use to daily school operations.
The implementation of the Evolv weapons detection system is part of a broader, multi-layered safety strategy that includes:
•Enhanced staff training in emergency response and threat detection.
•Upgraded surveillance and security monitoring systems.
•Ongoing collaboration with local law agencies.
We appreciate your support as we work together to maintain a safe and welcoming school environment.
Sincerely,
Jimmy Fisher
Principal
