Pike Central High School
October
Hello Charger Community
October has brought a flurry of activity, from academic growth to athletic victories and community service. The Chargers are continuing their great momentum from the start of the year!
Charger Clubs and Academic Excellence
Our FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) chapter recently traveled to Danville, Indiana, for the Fall Leadership Rally. Our students joined hundreds of others from across the state for a day of inspiration and learning about the keys to being a great leader. We are proud of their commitment to developing their skills both inside and outside the classroom!
In STEM, our PCHS Robotics team is officially competing in this year's First Tech Challenge. This demanding competition challenges students to design, build, program, and operate robots in an exciting head-to-head format. We are excited to see what innovative solutions our students create this season!
Community and School Spirit: #MillieStrong
Pike Central is rallying behind one of our own local elementary students who is bravely battling some heart issues. We are proud to be #MillieStrong and show our full support! This Friday's home football game, which is also Senior Night, will serve as a fundraising opportunity. Donations will be collected at the game to help support Millie and her family. We encourage everyone to come out, cheer on the Chargers, and show your community spirit!
Fields of Faith
The Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) will be hosting their annual Fields of Faith event on Wednesday, October 29th. This is an incredible night of fellowship, worship, and student testimonies that brings together students from schools across the area.
Homecoming Royalty
Our Fall Homecoming celebration was a huge success, filled with school pride and fun events! Congratulations to our newly crowned royalty: Hailee Rockett was named Homecoming Queen, and Alyssa McCutchan was named Princess.
Athletic Updates
The Chargers continue to excel on the field and the course:
Girls Cross Country finished a strong 3rd place in the Pocket Athletic Conference (PAC), with three of our talented runners earning the distinction of being named All-Conference!
Girls Soccer wrapped up an outstanding season. They played with incredible heart and teamwork all year, making it all the way to the Sectional Championship game before coming up just short. Congratulations on a memorable season!
Go Chargers!
Check out what is happening at PCHS!
FCCLA
On September 24th, all 13 of our members traveled to Danville, IN to attend the Indiana FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) Fall Leadership Rally β marking the first time our entire chapter has gone together! Our students joined over 500 other FCCLA members from across the state, where they were inspired by an uplifting and motivational message from Tim Wiese, who shared the keys to being a great leader and encouraged everyone to FEEL GREAT! Afterward, members took part in hands-on workshops, focused on traffic safety and smart driving, gaining valuable knowledge to bring back home. Theyβre already excited and canβt wait to attend again next year!
π€ PCHS Robotics
The PCHS robotics team is competing the FIRST Tech Challenge this year and are working on their robot. Making progress, but they are looking for more team members and adult mentors to work with the students. If interested, please contact Mark Scott at markscott@pcsc.k12.in.us. Students can catch Mr. Scott at school during homeroom if interested.
Precision Machining
Mr. Scott's Precision Machining classes have been collecting aluminum cans as a fundraiser. Recently, they took 7 barrels of crushed cans to recycling. Based on weight, they had approximately 7900 cans! That's a lot of cans kept out of the landfill. If anyone has aluminum cans they would like to donate, just contact Mr. Scott at markscott@pcsc.k12.in.us
π PCHS is #MillieStrong!
Chargers Staff showed their love and support for one of our students at Petersburg Elementary by wearing red! We know there were many staff not pictured here that showed up in red to support! We are ALL behind you, Millie!!!
Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser
Join us for a Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser to support our Winslow Elementary SROβs family after the loss of their home to a fire. Sunday, October 19, from 12:00 PM β 5:00 PM, @ Winslow Elementary School.
All proceeds will go directly to help the family during this difficult time. Letβs come together and show our love and support.
FCA Fields of Faith
Fields of Faith this year will be October 29th 6:00 pm at the Pike Central football field. Please come out and listen to some music, enjoy some food, and hear student testimonies, and a guest speaker!
Work Based Learning
Mr. Lamey and Mrs. Richardson met with the sophomores and juniors today to discuss options for Work-Based Learning that are available for them as seniors. Lots of opportunities for students if they keep the grades up and have good attendance. If any parents have questions, reach out to the Guidance Department or Mr. Brad Lamey.
πFall Homecoming
What a great Homecoming Friday at Pike Central High School! We had an amazing parade filled with school spirit and Charger pride. A big thank you to everyone who participated and especially to Mrs. Abigail Vinnedge, Mr. Jeremy Howald and all of PCHS Student Government that helped make it such a special evening! In our parade lineup, we were proud to showcase:
SRO Kent Johnson, The PCHS Band, Middle School Student Government, FCA, Broadcasting, FFA, 9th Grade, 10th Grade, 11th Grade, 12th Grade, Front Office Staff, and the Homecoming Court. Enjoy these highlights from our parade!

Our students went all out for Homecoming spirit week at the High School. The favorite seemed to be the Anything But a Backpack Day at PCHS, and our Chargers did not disappoint! From cool, clever, and downright hilarious βbackpackβ alternatives, our students showed up with tons of school spirit and creativity.
πSee You at the Pole
Pike Central Middle and High School students gathered together on See You at the Pole on September 24 for a time of unity and reflection. Weβre proud of our Chargers for coming together and making this tradition a meaningful part of our school year.
