Principal's Message
Good afternoon,
We are heading into our final week of school and last few days with the Class of 2026. Students should be bringing home items from their lockers in the coming days. Please look around your home for any missing library materials or for 8th graders, the most common missing item is their charger.
Current 6-7th grade students will be learning about some elective opportunities next year. Following presentations in Related Studies, we will be sharing a form to opt into some of the Career and Technical Education classes.
Spring NWEA MAP reports will be sent out via email beginning on June 1, 2026.
8th graders final day of school will be Wednesday, June 3rd. We are looking forward to celebrating the Class of 2026 at CLC on June 3 at 6:30 pm.
As a reminder, Friday, June 5th is an early release, with dismissal at 1:13 pm.
Thank you,
Dr. Emily Loerakker

- The 8th-grade Graduation/Promotion Ceremony is on Wednesday, June 3, at 6:30 p.m. at the College of Lake County Physical Education Center (8th graders report to CLC Building G at 6:00 p.m., and doors open to Building F for the ceremony to friends and family at 6:10 p.m.).

- Each student was mailed 6 tickets for entrance to the Graduation/Promotion Ceremony.
- There are no additional tickets available to families.
- In the event of a divorce or separation, each parent/guardian was mailed 3 tickets.
- The Graduates do not need a ticket.
Families and friends have very well attended our Graduation/Promotion Ceremonies. We are fortunate to have such a supportive community. We provide entrance tickets to help maintain the best environment for all participants. Each student receives 6 tickets for entrance to the promotion ceremony. To arrange for special seating needs, please contact Linda Flaherty at 847-566-9384, ext.1296, or via email at lflaherty@fsd79.org. The deadline for special seating is Friday, May 15, 2026.
For the Graduation/Promotion Ceremony, all students will be wearing gowns. Please note that it is important for students to wear dress clothes for the Graduation/Promotion Ceremony. Students must follow the district dress code.
When a student enters public school, a file is made that holds items such as report cards and standardized test results. This file transfers to any school the student attends. Per school code, Fremont retains copies of the file for a certain period of time. Copies of your child’s permanent file will be destroyed in 2086.
8th Grade Graduation Dance: The 8th-grade dance will be on Wednesday, May 27, from 6:00-8:00 pm at Fremont Middle School in the large gym and cafeteria.
Only Fremont Middle School 8th-grade students are allowed to attend the dance, and they must follow the dress code.
- There is no cost to the students! All food is free of charge.
- Drop-off and pick-up for the dance will be at the side entrance of the middle school's large gym.
- Enter the middle school at the south entrance (next to the district office) and pull around to the side of the building.
- There will be two rows of cars, and the cars will merge into one row. At the merge, cars will turn right and enter the parking lot, and drop off students at the side door by the large gym.
- Exit using the north exit by the stoplight. To assist with traffic flow and safety for the evening, this will be a right-turn-only exit onto Fremont Center Road heading North.
- Please be patient with the drop-off and pick-up of the students to ensure safety.
Please note that the College of Lake County is undergoing construction. The map below details road and parking lot closures. Again, the graduation ceremony takes place in Building F.

Summer Construction Information
As we approach the end of the school year, various construction projects will begin in and around our Fremont schools. We ask that you please take note of the following items.
Business Hours
District summer hours are as follows, starting June 8 through July 31, 2026:
Monday through Thursday: 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Friday: 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
School Building Access
The elementary, intermediate, and middle schools are receiving upgraded secure vestibules, which will result in some changes to the main entryway to the schools.
Elementary School: Door 1 will remain the main entrance to the school. Summer school students and approved visitors will proceed through the gymnasium.
Intermediate School: Visitors should proceed to Door 22, nearest to the intermediate school parking lot at the front of the building and south of the normal main entrance.
Middle School: Visitors should proceed to Door 2 at the front of the building, south of the normal main entrance.
Exterior doors are numbered, and signage will be utilized to indicate the new primary entryways at the intermediate and middle schools.
Construction Zones
School visitors during the summer should be aware of active construction areas around our buildings and grounds and remain clear of designated construction zones and equipment. Construction zones will be clearly marked with appropriate signage and barriers. Please ensure you and/or your child adhere to signage and stay clear of equipment while on district property.
Thank you for your compliance and understanding to ensure everyone’s safety.
Summer Chromebook Repairs
All 6th & 7th grade devices were inspected during the month of May. If it was determined that your child's device needed summer repairs, you should have received an email from Mrs. Poglayen.
All devices needing repairs will be collected on Thursday, June 4th. Students will leave both their chromebook and chromebook bag in the DEN. (If you wish to include the charger in the bag, that is optional.)
If your child is attending Summer School or the Summer Boost program, a loaner will be provided. All repaired devices will be waiting for your student in August.
Mrs. Poglayen will be in communication starting in August about pickups. If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Poglayen - apoglayen@fsd79.org.
Leaving Fremont District...
If you are leaving the district, your student will need to return all Fremont issued items. This includes the Chromebook, school-issued charger, and Chromebook bag. Please bring the items to the DEN on your student's last day to the DEN.
Congratulations to our Track State Finalists!!!!
Lunch Accounts
Still have money in your 8th graders lunch account? Email Anthony Smith at asmith@fsd79.org. The monies can be refunded or transferred to a sibling's account.
Multilingual Department Update
The preliminary ACCESS scores are in! We proudly announce that 37 students will be reclassified as students who formally received multilingual services. To be reclassified, students must earn a 4.8 or higher on the annual ACCESS test conducted in January. There are 4 students at the elementary school and 33 at the intermediate school who scored a 4.8 or higher. Congratulations to our students and staff for all their hard work!

This Summer Online Learning Access document highlights the programs that students have access to over the summer, should you wish to access them for independent summer learning. These are the same online, personalized, self-paced, student-directed programs FSD79 uses during the school year. Prior to summer break, your child’s current classroom teacher(s) will provide reminders regarding the necessary login information needed to access these tools.
