Student Representatives to the Board of School Directors
Hello, Lower Moreland Community! We, the Student Representatives for the 2024-2025 school year, [Mia Dubin and Edona Selamaj], are excited to share with you the latest and most exciting update at Lower Moreland High School!
This past Wednesday, April 2nd, Super Bowl Champion and Philadelphia Eagle Jahan Dotson visited Lower Moreland High School! The high school students were thrilled to see him, with many repping their Eagles gear to show their Philadelphia pride. Jahan was very energetic and showed the students a fun day; he played games like cornhole with students, signed jerseys, took photos, and greeted the students that lined the hallways. His visit inspired students, especially athletes like the football players, that anyone has the capability to become great. We are so grateful toward Jahan for visiting our high school and reminding students the importance of hard work and how it pays off in the end!
LMHS Students collaborated with students from other Montco districts as part of Voices for Education to identify the issues that most impact students in the county and to set priorities for advocacy. They also listened to a panel of state legislators, including State Senator Maria Collett.
LMHS Students attended the Montgomery County Science Research Competition. Click here to see the results.
Business Office (Mark McGuinn, Business Manager)
The Lower Moreland Township School District operates a before and after-school program called Kinderlinks. This program is accredited by the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare and must meet the standards set forth by that department for a before and after-school program. The program is audited each year by an official of the Department of Public Welfare and all staff/student ratios must be met as well as all medical and other clerical information must be on file. Lastly, the official looks at the program activities, the actual physical locations of the program, and the staff members to ensure that all are in compliance with the standards set forth for the program.
Each year, the program is open to students in grades K through 6 and offers 3 options for student attendance. The before-school program offers parents and guardians the opportunity to drop off their children at Pine Road Elementary School as early as 6:30 A.M. Students in grades 4-6 attending the Murray Avenue School will be transported by school bus to Murray Avenue before their school day begins. Students will be offered a variety of activities to help prepare them for the school day to follow. The after-school program offers children a wealth of enrichment, fun, and educational activities. Arts and crafts, indoor and outdoor recreational activities, and games are among the options available. Additionally, students will enjoy a nutritional snack and beverage and will have time to work on homework. Students in grades 4-6 attending the Murray Avenue School will be transported by school bus to the Pine Road Elementary School at the conclusion of their regular school program. Lastly, students have the opportunity to be enrolled in both the AM and PM options.
The program runs in coordination with the School District schedule and offers parents options for child-care purposes. The program is currently run by Keysha Alliston (kalliston@lmtsd.org) who has a wealth of experience in the child-care field. Each day, activities could include arts and crafts, indoor/outdoor physical activities, as well as time for homework assistance. In the afternoons, a snack is offered for students who are interested. Each year, registrations are received by District officials, invoices are generated, and staff at Pine Road is notified of all students who are participating. This process is extremely important as the dismissal each day at Pine Road Elementary School is a complicated process and the goal is to ensure that teachers and all other staff know which students are to go to the after-school program at the end of the day. Those students participating in the PM program are gathered by staff members and travel to the Library for a short time to ensure the regular dismissal of bus-rising students goes smoothly. Upon completion of the bus dismissals, all Kinderlinks participants are then brought to the multi-purpose run for afternoon activities.
The Lower Moreland Board of School Directors approves the registrations and the rates each year for the Kinderlinks program in May. Please visit the Homepage for the Kinderlinks program at https://www.lmtsd.org/services/kinderlinks for information and registration forms. The staff of the Kinderlinks program looks forward to seeing both new and returning students next year!
LMHS Career Day Presenters
Curriculum & Community Engagement (Dr. Julie Henrich, Assistant Superintendent/Scott Cole, Dir. )
The office of teaching and learning is excited to share an exciting update about a recent enriching experience for our LMTSD Catalyst students! At the end of February, a group of our students had the opportunity to visit the University of Pennsylvania's campus for a day of collaborative learning and exploration.
The morning began with our students engaging in their regular regional meeting, focusing on fostering a strong sense of belonging within our schools. They had the chance to present their current projects and exchange valuable insights with students from neighboring districts. This collaborative environment allowed for a rich exchange of ideas and perspectives, fostering a spirit of innovation and shared learning.
Following the meeting, our students were privileged to explore the cutting-edge Penn Catalyst maker space and the VR/AR studio guided by Penn researchers. This hands-on experience provided them with a glimpse into the world of advanced technology and its potential applications. Our students were able to experience firsthand the tools and techniques being used in these innovative spaces.
To conclude their visit, the students enjoyed a campus tour, gaining insight into the vibrant academic and cultural environment of the University of Pennsylvania.
This visit was a resounding success, and we are hopeful that it marks the beginning of a fruitful and long-lasting partnership between LMTSD and Penn. We are committed to providing our students with opportunities to explore their passions and expand their horizons, and this collaboration is a significant step in that direction.

April is Autism Acceptance Month around the globe. While the month-long recognition was formerly known as Autism Awareness Month the title has recently changed to remove “awareness” and include “acceptance” to highlight a shift toward understanding, inclusion, and a celebration of neurodiversity to encourage true acceptance of individuals with autism.
Below are two websites that provide more information on the focus of the month, and information about autism, individuals with autism, and resources available.

I’m excited to get to know you all!
