A Message from our Principal A Message from our Principal

Dear Middle School Parent/Guardian,

Regular attendance is essential for your child’s success in middle school. When students attend school consistently, they stay on track academically, build important skills, and develop positive habits that prepare them for high school.

Frequent absences can lead to learning gaps, difficulty keeping up with assignments, and feeling disconnected from peers. Being present each day helps students remain engaged, responsible, and confident in their learning.

Every day matters. Your support in ensuring your child attends school regularly plays a vital role in their academic success and overall growth.

Thank you for your continued partnership in your child’s education.

Sincerely,
Joe Caprio

Upcoming Dates

As we approach the next round of state testing, please note the following assessment dates:

  • ELA Assessments: April 22 and April 23, 2026
  • Math Assessments: May 6 and May 7, 2026
  • Grade 8 Science Assessment: May 13, 2026

Assessment-Based Final Exam Option
To reduce over-testing, we are offering the option for students who take the state assessments. If a student takes the state assessment, we will use that data to assign the student a grade for taking the assessment.

  • If the student/parent is happy with the grade and it is at or above 65%, the student will not be required to take our local Math, ELA and Grade 8 Science final examination in June.
  • If a student/parent is not satisfied with the grade, the student may take their final examination in June to replace their assessment grade.

This proposal is completely optional and will not be forced on anyone. It is simply a personal choice for families who wish to reduce over-testing while still maintaining academic accountability.

A Message from our SRO

April is here and it's the first full month of Spring and the end of the third marking period! April focuses on stress awareness and distracted driving awareness, among other things.

Stress Awareness fits well with the school aspect this time of year as kids enter their final marking period of the school year. Stress may be harder to manage, whether it's catching up with grades, keeping up with grades, finishing homework, participating in extracurricular activities in and out of school, and some older kids are working.

It is important to step back, prioritize sleep, eat well, move more now that the weather is warming up, and always reach out for help if stress becomes unmanageable.

Distracted Driving Awareness is for every driver, whether it's your kiddo who is new at driving or for you who has been driving for some time now. Some important, yet easy ways to stay alert include using bluetooth, setting your GPS and playlists before you start your drive, use do not disturb modes, designate a passenger to handle the radio and phone use. Do not text and drive and if necessary, put your phone in the backseat or far from reach to keep yourself focused. More people will be out driving, walking, biking, running, etc. Stay safe and stay alert!

Happy Spring! Go Tigers!

A Message from Student Support

With state testing coming up this month, feeling a bit worried or stressed is completely normal. Try getting a good night's rest before, take your time on each question, and remind yourself that trying your best is enough! If you find yourself feeling overwhelmed at any point, pause and take a few deep breaths, you've got this!
