September Recap
Cool Things Happening in the Library
September was an exciting and meaningful month in the library! Our Skyhawks completed a moving school-wide project inspired by the story of the Survivor Tree. In collaboration with our art teacher, Mrs. Cotter, students created a beautiful display tree filled with leaves bearing handwritten messages of hope, peace, and resilience to honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001. This heartwarming tribute now stands proudly near the library entrance, and we invite everyone to stop by and read our students' uplifting words.
ELA students discovered their "Genre Personalities," learning to navigate the library catalog to match books to their unique reading tastes. Meanwhile, ELD classes launched a year-long adventure titled "Biblioteca Buenísima," where they will collect badges on interactive library maps as they tackle literacy challenges. Rounding out the month, Spanish classes took virtual field trips across Spanish-speaking nations to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, highlighting the inspiring contributions of Latinx musicians, athletes, leaders, and trailblazers.
Makerspace Club created pixel art using Perler beads, Book Club began reading the 20 books needed to compete at the NISD Battle of the Books in March, and Pokemon Club made its Stinson debut with 30 members!
We are looking forward to the next chapter! Come visit the library soon to see what's new in October!
