Dear Dragon Families,
What a September we had! We began our remaining specials which include Garden, Creation Rotations, Makerspace, Library, and TK/K PE putting our STEAM education in full effect. This year our Creation Rotations program consists of Zumba, 3D printing, VR Sets, Art, Literature in the Garden, and Meet the Masters. Thank you to our specialist teachers and parent volunteers who make Creation Rotations possible!
October is shaping up to be just as exciting! Here's what's coming up:
- We will begin our Target Time Intervention program with our wonderful teachers Mrs. Hollander and Mrs. Burton. They are our fully credentialed academic specialist and support students who require extra instruction in reading and English language development. We are so grateful to have them on our team! If your student was recommended for intervention, you will be notified during parent/teacher conferences.
- Parent/Teacher Conference week is perhaps the most important week of the school year! Please be sure to attend and be on time as our conferences are scheduled back to back.
- In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, we will have our annual cultural dress parade at our Friday Morning Gathering on October 9th. Traditional dress from all cultures are welcome. Stick around for our ELAC meeting which will be held immediately following the morning gathering. See the flyer below.
- October is National Bullying Prevention Month. Students will be presented with social emotional lessons to remind them of the importance of treating everyone with kindness and respect. Please emphasize with your scholars that it is okay to disagree with others, but kindness and respect is not a choice when interacting with others, it's a must. Unity Day is Wednesday, October 21st, join us in spreading this message by wearing orange.
- School Site Council meeting will be on Wednesday, October 21st at 3PM in room 28. Our team will be working on revamping our school site goals.
- Our PTA has so much in store for our scholars this month! Check out the flyers below to help with Big Boo volunteering, purchase Big Boo wristbands, and more!
Thank you for your support thus far in making Ladera STARS Academy the most amazing neighborhood school! Let's continue to work together to teach our scholars how to be accountable for their choices, belong to a community, and how to make choices that help them to be productive citizens within our school community.

Drop Off Reminder
Remember that there is no parking along the red curb in front of our school. It disrupts traffic flow and blocks other cars from moving. If you need to walk your child into campus park on the street.
Important Dates
October 9th - Progress reports sent home in student backpacks
October 12th-16th - this is parent conference week and school will be dismissed at 12:30 daily. Please make arrangements to have your scholar picked up from school on time.
November 11th - Veterans Day, No School

Parents, our goal as a whole school is to have at least 96% attendance. This week we came in at 95.7%! Let's see if we can get back up to 97% next week.
Parents, we hit our overall school attendance goal of 96% this month! Thank you for reinforcing the importance of daily school attendance (when your child is healthy). Let's aim to get to 97% next month!

Estimadas familias de dragones,
¡Qué septiembre tan increíble tuvimos! Comenzamos con nuestras actividades especiales restantes, que incluyen Jardín, Rotaciones Creativas, Espacio de Creación, Biblioteca y Educación Física para Preescolar y Jardín de Infantes, poniendo en práctica nuestra educación STEAM al máximo. Este año, nuestro programa de Rotaciones Creativas incluye Zumba, impresión 3D, Realidad Virtual, Arte, Literatura en el Jardín y Encuentro con los Maestros. ¡ Gracias a nuestros maestros especialistas y padres voluntarios que hacen posible las Rotaciones Creativas!
¡Octubre promete ser igual de emocionante! Esto es lo que se avecina:
- Comenzaremos nuestro programa de Intervención en Tiempo Previo con nuestras excelentes maestras, la Sra. Hollander y la Sra. Burton. Ellas son especialistas académicas con plenas credenciales y brindan apoyo a los estudiantes que requieren instrucción adicional en lectura y desarrollo del idioma inglés. ¡ Estamos muy agradecidos de tenerlas en nuestro equipo! Si se recomienda que su hijo/a reciba intervención, se le notificará durante las reuniones de padres y maestros.
- ¡La semana de reuniones de padres y maestros es quizás la más importante del año escolar! Por favor, asegúrense de asistir y llegar a tiempo, ya que nuestras reuniones están programadas una tras otra.
- Para celebrar el Mes de la Herencia Hispana , tendremos nuestro desfile anual de trajes típicos en nuestra reunión matutina del viernes 9 de octubre. Se aceptan trajes tradicionales de todas las culturas. Quédense para nuestra reunión de ELAC , que se llevará a cabo inmediatamente después de la reunión matutina. Vean el folleto a continuación.
- Octubre es el Mes Nacional de la Prevención del Acoso Escolar . Se impartirán lecciones socioemocionales a los estudiantes para recordarles la importancia de tratar a todos con amabilidad y respeto. Por favor, recalque a sus alumnos que está bien discrepar con los demás, pero la amabilidad y el respeto no son opcionales al interactuar con ellos, sino imprescindibles. El Día de la Unidad es el miércoles 21 de octubre; únase a nosotros para difundir este mensaje vistiendo de naranja.
- La reunión del Consejo Escolar tendrá lugar el miércoles 21 de octubre a las 15:00 en la sala 28. Nuestro equipo trabajará en la revisión de los objetivos de nuestra escuela.
- ¡Nuestra asociación de padres y maestros tiene muchas actividades preparadas para nuestros estudiantes este mes! Consulta los folletos a continuación para colaborar como voluntario en Big Boo, comprar pulseras de Big Boo y mucho más.
¡Gracias por su apoyo hasta ahora, que ha hecho de Ladera STARS Academy la escuela de barrio más increíble! Sigamos trabajando juntos para enseñar a nuestros alumnos a ser responsables de sus decisiones, a pertenecer a una comunidad y a tomar decisiones que les ayuden a ser ciudadanos productivos dentro de nuestra comunidad escolar.

Recordatorio para dejar a los estudiantes
Recuerde que no está permitido estacionar junto al cordón rojo frente a nuestra escuela. Esto interrumpe el flujo del tránsito y bloquea el paso de otros vehículos. Si necesita acompañar a su hijo/a hasta el campus, por favor estacione en la calle.
Fechas mportantes
9 de octubre - Se envían informes de progreso a casa en las mochilas de los estudiantes.
Del 12 al 16 de octubre , esta es la semana de reuniones con los padres y la salida de la escuela será a las 12:30 todos los días . Por favor, hagan los arreglos necesarios para que recojan a su hijo/a de la escuela a tiempo.
11 de noviembre - Día de los Veteranos, no hay clases.

Estimados padres, nuestro objetivo como escuela es alcanzar una asistencia de al menos el 96%. ¡Esta semana logramos un 95.7%! A ver si podemos llegar al 97% la próxima semana.
