October SEL Family Connections

At Spaulding, we kicked off the school year with our new Fly 5 Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum! You might already be familiar with our Spaulding Stars, but thanks to Fly 5, the program is expanding. Spaulding Stars now incorporates the C.A.R.E.S. competencies: Cooperation, Assertiveness, Responsibility, Empathy, and Self-Control. Through these lessons, students will build essential skills for social, emotional, and academic success.

As part of the rollout, students are getting to know the "CARES Kids"—a diverse group of characters who will grow right alongside our students all the way through high school. Each character features unique personality traits, family backgrounds, personal interests, and core strengths. Our hope is that every student will connect with one or more of the CARES Kids and internalize these valuable life lessons each day.
