by Olivia (Intro by Mrs. Murray)

You might see posters around the school celebrating famous actors, writers and inventors that have had learning difficulties. This is because this week (March 17 - 21) is Neurodiversity week. We know that we all learn differently, so why not celebrate it?

What does Neurodiversity mean?

What I was able to find online is that "Neurodiversity refers to the variation and differences in how human brains function, process information, and interact with the world. Neurodiversity has a wide range of cognitive styles, learning abilities, and neurological conditions."

It is important to promote acceptance and understand peoples neurological differences.

A few different neurological disorders are:

Autism spectrum disorder

Dyslexia

Dyscalculia

Tourette’s syndrome

ADHD

Some celebrities that have neurological disorders are:

Simone Biles (Olympic Gymnast) has ADHD

Billie Eilish (Singer) has Tourette’s syndrome

Greta Thunberg (Environmental Activist) is on the autism spectrum

Emma Watson (Actor) has ADHD

Thomas Jefferson (U.S. President) had autism

Poem by Jack Kerouac

Here's to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes... the ones who see things differently

- they're not fond of rules...

You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them,

but the only thing you can't do is ignore them because they change things...

they push the human race forward,

and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius,

because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.
