Tips for Parents
You are the most important person in your child's life, and your child needs you to be interested and involved in his/her education. The following tips will help ensure that your child has a successful school year.
- Insist on daily attendance. Unless your child is ill, he/she needs to be in school.
- Make sure your child has the recommended school supplies. If you need support in this area reach out to us.
- Talk to your child about what's happening at school. Show interest in what your child is learning, and in his/her academic progress.
- Make sure your child gets enough sleep. Elementary-aged children should get 9-11 hours of sleep each night.
- Monitor homework. Have a set time for homework, remove as many distractions as possible and monitor your child's homework grades.
- Be supportive. Be available to help, praise extra effort, and celebrate achievements.
Studies show that parental involvement significantly improves a student's schol performance.
