Safety and Security

Safety and security will continue to be the highest priority. Please note that our doors open at 7:30 a.m. At 7:30, middle school students may enter the school via the back parking lot, the auditorium doors, or the gym entrance on South 24th Street. After 7:40 a.m. students are required to enter and exit through the main middle school office.

The district will be working with students and staff on ALICE principles in addition to our monthly evacuation drills. More information on ALICE program will be forthcoming.

District-issued Chromebooks

All students are assigned a district Chromebook for the academic year. Students are no longer permitted to bring or use their own device. Students should bring their district device to school each day fully charged. Students who have not yet picked up a device, will do so on the first day of school.

Attendance

Please be sure to follow the proper protocols in the handbook regarding student absences. It is in everyone's interest to minimize absences and follow our attendance process as a means to support a first rate educational experience. Students must be present inside their classrooms no later than 7:40 a.m. Students arriving after that time will be marked tardy. Please refer to the Student Handbook for additional information regarding attendance

Water Bottles/Food and Drinks in classrooms and learning spaces

Keeping in line with our student handbook expectations, beverages such as soda, coffee, coffee drinks, energy drinks, and food are not permitted in the classrooms at the middle school. We want our spaces of learning and performance free from spills and litter. Water however, is permitted. Students may also use the district water fountains & fill stations situated throughout the facility. Students will not be permitted to enter the building with any beverages other than water.

Lunch

It is one of the most unique cultural traditions we have inherited at Camp Hill Middle School. Students should be reminded that we are all responsible for keeping this privilege by demonstrating our Lion PRIDE values. Any middle school student who wants to leave the campus for lunch must have a signed permission form on file or a note from a parent giving permission to leave the building at lunch. When students leave the campus, be sure to exit the building through the cafeteria doors ONLY and practice safety when in town- utilize the crosswalks. On campus, be reminded we offer two outdoor eating spaces. The first being the courtyard connected to our cafeteria and secondly the Literacy Park on Chestnut Street. Remember to show your Lion PRIDE while in the community. Clean up after yourself and leave the space in the same condition as you found it. Finally, make sure your lunch is finished by the time you arrive back to the back parking lot entrance. No food or drinks will be permitted in the building, with the exception of water. Cafeteria lunches can be purchased at a price of $3.00 per lunch.

Bike Safety

We encourage all students riding a bike to school to wear a helmet and respect traffic laws. Bike racks are located behind the gymnasium and band room. It is highly recommended that students lock their bikes. Finally, students should register their bike with CHPD.

Dress Code

Camp Hill Middle School prides itself on creating a professional and supportive atmosphere that is conducive to learning. Items of clothing that are deemed threatening, reference illegal substances/activities or create a substantial educational disruption are not permitted. Additionally, students may not wear hats in the building. Please refer to the handbook for further information regarding our dress code.
