Woodland D50 Board of Education Appoints New Member to Fill Vacancy
The Woodland Board of Education held a Special Meeting on July 7, 2025 as part of the process to fill a vacancy on the Board of Education. The Board interviewed candidates in closed session, and returned to open session to vote on a new member to fill the vacancy.
Please join us in congratulating Michael Senol for his appointment to the Woodland D50 Board of Education. Mr. Senol will take the Oath of Office on Thursday, July 24 at the regularly scheduled monthly governing meeting.
Mr. Senol is a long-time resident of Gurnee, and a parent in the district. One of his sons has already graduated from Woodland, and one is currently a student at Woodland Middle School. In his letter of interest to the Board of Education, he explained how he has seen the positive impact our schools can have on a child's academic growth and personal development, and he wants every student to benefit from a strong, supportive, and forward-thinking educational environment. He is committed to stakeholder engagement and respectful dialogue and believes that real progress can be made by listening to diverse perspectives and working collaboratively to find solutions that reflect the needs of the entire learning community.
With this appointment, Mr. Senol will serve on the Woodland Board of Education until the April 2027 consolidated election.
The Board of Education would like to thank all of the applicants who expressed interest in serving on the Board. We were fortunate to have a strong pool of candidates, which shows that our community is dedicated to the success of Woodland students. The Board encourages all of the applicants for this vacancy, along with all of our District parents, guardians, and caregivers, to continue to be active advocates for the success of all Woodland students.
