Students and staff at Berea City School District honored veterans in a number of ways last month with various Veterans Day activities. We invited our family members who served in the Armed Forces to attend recognition programs and concerts. There were also lessons and activities going on in the district to honor veterans and their service. Brook Park Elementary PTSA worked with students to create cards and handwritten notes for veterans, our makerspaces were used to make buttons for veterans, and tributes to veterans were on display inside and outside our schools. The Berea City School District takes great pride in recognizing and honoring our veterans. It is also an opportunity to provide our students with a wonderful learning experience.

The district has also established a Veterans Outreach Committee that is currently working on creating opportunities for community veterans to volunteer in our schools. More information about these opportunities will be shared early next year. The district has also created a new section on the district website with Military Family Resources.

Berea City School District is having our next Family First Night with the Cleveland Cavaliers taking on the Boston Celtics on Monday, March 6, 2023! There will be no school assignments, athletic practices, and no after school activities. Discounted Cavs tickets are available at a special offer to BCSD families! The Cleveland Cavaliers will be making the night extra special for a select number of grade K-12 students to participate in pre-game on-the-court activities such as high-fiving Cavs and Celtics players in the Cheer Tunnel or participating as an Anthem Lineup Buddy during the National Anthem.

Families who plan to attend the Cavs game and purchase tickets are asked to please complete this brief entry form for the chance to be one of 40 students selected for a pre-game on-the-court activity representing our schools!

The Berea Board of Education holds regular community conversations to give the public access to board members outside of the formal public participation setting of a meeting. Residents will have the opportunity to meet and discuss any concerns they may have with two board members during a 30 minute time-slot set aside prior to each Board of Education meeting in 2022.
