Suicide Prevention Awareness Month
September 2026
💜 “Changing the Narrative on Suicide " 💜
September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. It is a time to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and remind students, staff, families, and communities that help is available. By listening without judgment, showing compassion, and encouraging connection, we can all play a role in prevention.
You don’t have to be in crisis to reach out—your reason is reason enough. Every conversation matters. Together, we can create a culture where people feel safe asking for help and know they are not alone.

💜 988 DAY 💜
💜 988 REASONS 💜
September 8th
988 Day is an annual Day of Action held on September 8 to raise awareness of the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline and remind our communities that support is available when it’s needed. This year’s message, “Your reason is reason enough,” reminds us that you don’t have to be in crisis to reach out to 988. Whatever you’re facing—big or small—your reason for seeking support is reason enough. Together, let’s spread awareness, encourage conversations, and remind others that help is available. Share your reason this #988Day.

What to Expect
Help Someone Else
If someone you know is struggling emotionally or having a hard time, you can be the difference in getting them the help they need. It’s important to take care of yourself when you are supporting someone through a difficult time, as this may bring up difficult emotions. If it does, please reach out for support yourself.
