The Shepard Middle School Choir Program forms a vital component of a high quality, comprehensive middle school experience. The main emphasis of the choir program includes vocal musicianship development, followed closely by the pride of accomplishment, citizenship, innovation, tradition, and morale, spirit, and loyalty.

Here are a few things to expect:

• In-person rehearsals, room 408 starting 1st full week of September
• *NEW* Rehearsals 1 time per week, either after school Tuesdays 3:05-4:00 (students may take activity bus home) or before school Thursdays 7:10-7:50 a.m. Choose one or come to both! (Depending on numbers, subject to change.)

• September 16 Band/Choir/Orchestra Social Event after school

• November field trip and concert with Deerfield high school

• 2 concerts (November and May)

• No audition - if you like to sing, join us!

The Choral Program is dedicated to providing high quality individual and group singing experiences for all students. SMS Choir offers students an opportunity to perform and sing in concert performances at school and various other venues. Students are encouraged to explore their creativity through the aesthetic communication of various styles of choral music, and this year will continue to have input on our rehearsal and performance song choices.

Please choose ONE rehearsal this week that best fits your schedule, or come to both! It is very challenging to plan around so many club and sports activities. Please remember that choir is a commitment, and we need solid, consistent attendance throughout the year to learn our music and singing skills. Once you sign up, please see your time commitment through to the end.

TUESDAY AFTERNOONS: 3:05 - 3:55 p.m. room 408 (activity bus available)

THURSDAY MORNINGS: 7:15 - 7:50 a.m. room 408 (no activity bus, please carpool or find a ride)

*NO conflicts with Jazz Band or Chamber Orchestra this year!
