SART Lesson Notification
Dear Bellview Families,
In 2015 Oregon passed Senate Bill 856 ("Erin's Law") that mandates sexual assault prevention education in grades K-12. Jackson County Sexual Assault Response Team (JC SART) is a local organization that provides services to sexual assault survivors and brings prevention education classes into our local schools. JC SART’s Prevention program offers a comprehensive K-12 sexual and gender violence curriculum for schools that focuses on prevention as well as risk reduction methods. The lesson plans are age appropriate and in line with state and national sexual health standards and Erin’s Law recommendations.
JC SART’s K-5 curriculum is delivered in two Levels. Level 1 focuses on personal space and boundaries, understanding and recognizing Consent (in the perspective of playing a game with their friend) as a freely given yes, telling/reporting to an adult if someone is getting hurt, empathy, internet safety, peer pressure, and refusal skills. Level 2 focuses on good touch/bad touch, body ownership, good secrets/bad secrets, and grooming- as the process used by abusers to build trust with children so they can harm them. Our presentations delivered with sensitivity, in a conversation style prompted by stories that we read.
An overview of each lesson can be provided by reaching out to your child’s teacher, Ms. Michelle (CDS) or Mrs. McCollom (Principal).
Please feel free to contact Kyndra Laughery, JC SART Prevention Coordinator, with any questions or concerns. She can be reached at, sartprevention@gmail.com or through their website at www.jacksoncountysart.org
Level 1 lessons will be delivered at Bellview November 27-December 1.
Veterans Day Observed November 10th
Booksgiving, November 20-21
Gobble, Gobble.
Booksgiving is returning to Bellview once again on November 20 & 21st. Show your spirit of giving and caring by donating slightly used books to the school. This collection of books will then be available for all students to select their favorite ones. Students can participate in this event by bringing books to school in the coming weeks. Students may select a book even if they did not donate one. We hope to collect more than 250 books. Collection boxes will be in the drop off zones outside of classrooms, or students can give the books to their teacher, and we will collect them.
The Bellview community looks forward to Booksgiving; a time when we can display our charity and gratitude, and also expand our exploration of the world through the adventure of reading a new book.

Playground Update
Ashland School District Calendar and Schedule Research Survey
The purpose of this survey is to gather feedback and views from the Ashland School District (ASD) community on our current calendar and schedule.
The Ashland School Board's Calendar and Schedule Research committee will utilize the feedback to inform the Board as to whether or not the current ASD calendars and schedules are working for students, staff, families, and the Ashland community - keeping in mind our diverse family population and their individual needs.
The Board welcomes the opportunity for out-of-the-box thinking. As such, this survey is the first step in eliciting community feedback for this extensive, collaborative, on-going, and comprehensive process. To learn more about this process and the committees, visit https://www.ashland.k12.or.us/o/school-board/page/innovation-committee. Please complete only one survey per person. Thanks for your time!
Volunteering at School
How To Become a Volunteer:
Step 1:
Complete the Volunteer Registration Form, which includes the Notice of Background Check form.
Once completed, please submit the forms and a copy of your driver’s license to the Office Manager of the school where the volunteer position is needed. Forms may also be mailed or faxed to the school office. If no school is specified, forms may be submitted to 885 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland, OR 97520.
Once you have passed your background check, you are cleared to apply to volunteer for any position throughout the school year. No additional background check is necessary, however, it is necessary to repeat this process each school year.
Step 2:
Mark your calendar with the agreed upon days and times. Please note that certain positions require training and a time commitment. Make sure you can fulfill the volunteer commitments before agreeing to the position.
Be prompt and dependable. Call ahead if you are ill or unable to keep your appointed times. When you commit to volunteering, people are depending on you.
