Principal's Update

After some unexpected snow this weekend, we are excited to enjoy the week with students before going on break for the holidays.

Thank you to all of our incredible families that supported this years Giving Tree at Dayton School. Your generosity will help local families this holiday season.

If you ever find yourself needing additional support, please DO NOT hesitate to reach out. We are here to support our students, and in turn, you.

Last week, we surprised students on the 67th day of school with a special assembly in honor of them meeting their PAW card challenge. Students enjoyed three challenges they had to complete in 67 seconds. Ask them which was their favorite.

Looking ahead, we have some exciting events taking place in the new year. We will be hosting an assembly with all students the week we return from break to share an exciting update we have as we head into the second half of our school year. More about this in January.

The Welcome Center is now fully staffed! The Biddeford, Saco and Dayton School Departments are thrilled to welcome Tara Rivera as the Director of Family Engagement. She joins Renata O'Donnell at the Biddeford Middle School after working for the Opportunity Alliance and working several years in the South Portland schools. Tara and Renata will assist families needing extra time and support in registering students to schools, screening ML eligibility, and making best interest determinations for McKinney-Vento (homeless) students. We have transitioned from Talking Points to ReachMyTeach as a two-way communication platform that makes it easy to connect families through the languages they speak and the devices they use every day. This platform will also allow families to communicate directly with classroom teachers effortlessly through text, email, or WhatsApp, on-demand video interpreters, and scheduled conferences. There is no need to download an app and families can learn more by clicking here.
