CES Weekly Communicator
Issue #6: September 12, 2025
Principal Corner
Good morning, Chapelfield families,
We’ve had a full and exciting week at Chapelfield! Our students participated in NWEA MAP testing, we celebrated the release of our butterflies, held our first PTO meeting with a presentation on Title I, and announced the new 4th and 5th grade Student Council officers.
Please take a moment to review the information about our Title I program below and sign the School–Family Compact.
Also, a reminder to complete your Emergency Medical Authorization form in Infinite Campus by Monday. These forms are essential for field trips and emergencies—we still have 36 outstanding.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend and time to enjoy the beautiful weather!
Sincerely,
Nikki Miller

School Counseling Connection with Mrs. Jasin
Hello Families!
Next week is our second annual Start with Hello Week! Please see the flier above for each spirit day.
The purpose is to raise awareness and educate students on ways to reduce social isolation and increase connectedness, ensuring all students feel a sense of belonging.
Students are taught three easy steps:
1. See someone alone
2. Reach out and help
3. Start with Hello
Best,
Mrs. Jasin

Music with Mrs. Herrmann
We are off to a great start in the music room! KG and 1st graders are learning how to follow directions, work in a large group and also with a partner. We’ve had lots of fun shaking eggs and scarves with Shake-a-My Egg. If you have something your child can shake at home, this can be a fun way to get out some wiggles! 2nd and 3rd graders are learning about each other with “Up the Ladder, Down the Ladder.” Students are given a category such as “share your favorite food” and create a motion the class can copy while each child answers with their “favorite.” It’s been fun to see their creativity! 4th and 5th recently started playing tubano drums. They are learning to play in parts to Locomotor Engine. Ask your 4th and 5th graders how to play the “Got ‘ya” game at home and see who wins!
During music class, students will spend time learning how to read, write, sing and play a variety of instruments. Classtime typically includes movement, whole group, small group and independent activities. I am excited to work with all of our students and look forward to a school year filled with smiles in the music room.
Thank you,
Mrs. Herrmann

Dear Families,
Do your part in ensuring you get to school on time and ready to learn! If you haven't done so already, take the pledge!

Attendance Procedures
Pursuant to House Bill 410, student attendance is calculated in hours. This includes absences that have been identified as both excused and unexcused by the school, as well as planned absences. Being late or tardy to school does calculate into the total hours absent.
If your child is going to be absent for any portion of the school day, please notify the school. You may report an absence by using our Online Absence Reporting available in the Parent Portal in Infinite Campus. To enter a request follow these simple steps:
1.Log in to your Infinite Campus Parent Portal account.
2. Select your child’s profile.
3. Navigate to the Absence Request section.
4. Fill in the required information, including the date and reason for the absence.
5. Submit your request.
You will be able to view the status of your request using the View Requests button.
You may also call Chapelfield at 614-478-5575 or email our secretary at gilzows@gjps.org.
Medical excuses from a doctor can be submitted to Stephanie Gilzow, our school secretary, through email (gilzows@gjps.org) or sending in a paper copy.
Parent Phone calls to change transportation
The front office is a busy place the last 30 minutes of school. We ask that parents NOT CALL to make transportation changes after 2 p.m. Please make sure students know your plan of pick up before they come to school.

Support our School
Chapelfield Elementary has officially kicked off our Fall “Mumkin” fundraiser! We’ve partnered with the best grower in Ohio for plants this year...Foertmeyer and Sons Greenhouse! Links were sent out via email on August 26, and check those backpacks for flyers making their way home as well. Share your link with family and friends to help support our school (and make that front porch feel like fall!). The flower sale has been extended through September 21, with no impact to our pick up date. We are just over halfway to our fundraising goal, and would love to see us reach it! Flowers will be available for pick up on 09/30/2025 between 2-6 pm (no holds).
Hungry after (or before!) Fall Conferences? Bibibop is partnering with Chapelfield to donate a portion of their proceeds to the PTO for purchases made on September 18.
Did you know your Kroger grocery shop can benefit our school? The Kroger Community Rewards program offers donations from all qualifying purchases to an organization of your choosing - your school community benefits when you choose Chapelfield PTO! To enroll, visit the Kroger Community Rewards page, log in to your account (or create one!), and search for “Chapelfield PTO” under the listed organizations.
