Our Top 3 ROAR-some Highlights
Safety Week at OPS!
During Safety Week, students and staff across Otsego Public Schools practiced a variety of safety drills to help ensure everyone knows what to do in an emergency. These practice opportunities help build confidence, reinforce important safety procedures, and prepare us to respond calmly and appropriately in different situations. Thank you to our students and staff for taking these drills seriously and helping keep our Bulldog community safe!
Reaching New Heights at WSE!
Our Bulldogs are reaching new heights in PE this week! Students have been challenging themselves on the climbing wall, building strength, coordination, balance, and confidence along the way. Whether reaching for a new hold or pushing themselves to climb a little higher, our students are learning the importance of perseverance, problem-solving, and believing in themselves.
Thank You for Going the Extra Mile!
A big thank-you to all of our parents and community members who join us for Mileage Club! We love seeing our WSE families come together to walk, move, and stay active while cheering on our students. Thank you for being part of our WSE community and helping us go the extra mile!
CLUE: A Mystery @ WSE! π
WSE is having some spooky fun with a whole-school CLUE Game: A Mystery @ WSE! Students and staff are working together to solve the school mystery using their listening skills, teamwork, deductive reasoning, and knowledge of story elements to piece together the clues and crack the case. Featuring four of our very own staff members as characters and familiar locations throughout WSE, the mystery brings our school to life in a fun and exciting way! Each day, new clues are revealed, giving everyone a chance to put on their detective hats and figure out what happened. Along the way, students and staff have opportunities to win fun prizes for solving puzzles and cracking the mystery. Itβs a fun way to add a little excitement leading up to Halloween!
Red Ribbon Week is next week!
Join us as we celebrate healthy choices and living a drug-free life with fun spirit days! Wear red on Monday, sweats on Tuesday, superhero attire on Wednesday, and a hat on Thursday. On Friday, students can wear their Halloween costumes during the parade! See the flyer below for details. Together, we can make a difference!
π Pumpkin Decorating Contest! π
Show off your creativity in our Pumpkin Decorating Contest!
Pumpkins should be decorated, not carved.
Please drop off your pumpkins on Monday, October 26 to be displayed. We canβt wait to see your spook-tacular designs!
Halloween Parade
Halloween is just around the corner, and weβre excited to bring back our Halloween Parade & Trail for Treaters on Friday, October 30! The costume parade will begin inside the building at 2:15 p.m., with spectators watching from the gymnasium.
Students should bring their costumes to school and will change before their classroom parties and the parade. Please choose a costume your child can put on independently.
Costume reminders: Costumes must be non-violent. Weapon accessories and scary masks are not allowed. Due to allergies, spray-painted hair is also prohibited.
We canβt wait to celebrate with you!
Trail for Treaters
During the parade, we will also host our Trail for Treaters! Families who would like to participate can set up along the parade route and hand out treats to students. Think of it as a βTrunk or Treatβ... just without the trunks! π
If youβre interested in participating, please reserve your spot by signing up below.
Fall Conferences
Parent-Teacher Conferences are approaching soon! Please use the link below to sign up for a conference time for each of your students. Once you've signed up, you'll receive a confirmation email for your childβs scheduled conference. Our goal is 100% participation!

24 Hours Fever-Free Please!
This is the time of year when illness begins to spread. If your child has a fever or is sent home with one, please make sure they are fever-free for 24 hours without medication before returning to school.
Likewise, if your child has vomited, they should remain home for at least 24 hours with no vomiting. These precautions help keep both our students and staff healthy. Thank you!
Counselor's Corner
Talking to Your Child About School Lockdowns
Conversations about lockdowns can bring up big emotions. Here are ways to help your child feel heard and supported:
Listen calmly. Give your child time to share concerns without dismissing feelings or rushing to fix them.
Validate feelings. Try, βI understand why that feels scary.β Avoid promises such as βNothing bad will happen.β
Keep explanations simple and honest. Share age-appropriate, verified information. Itβs okay to say, βI donβt know, but Iβll help find out.β
Offer ways to cope. Drawing, relaxing activities, or talking with a trusted adult may help. Remind children that keeping them safe is adultsβ responsibility.
Limit upsetting media. Be mindful of news, online content, and conversations your child may overhear.
Reach out for support. If worry persists, worsens, or affects sleep, eating, or daily activities, contact your childβs school counselor or healthcare provider.
You donβt need all the answers. Listening, staying present, and reminding your child they can come to you can make a difference.
