Lincoln News

💙 Welcome Pam! It's nice to have you on the team!

💛 We are looking forward to our Spelling Bee on the 25th at 2:00 in the gym. Thank you to Jo-Anne for all she has done to work with our students and prepare for the event.

💙A special shout out to our Bear Team for the dedication and intentional planning they provide on a daily basis to make a difference for students. The Bear Team's partnership with classroom teachers is making a big difference! I love the success stories I'm hearing as students finish up their reading NWEA!

💛 A HUGE shout out to Katie Mandarino for dropping everything to fill in for our first graders. We understand the sacrifice you make when you do that--know you are appreciated!

💙Thanks to Mallory for searching endlessly for substitutes on days we are short all while juggling all of the other office responsibilities.

💛The medical/allergy alert document is posted in the lounge and is available on our Google Classroom. (Thank you Leath Ann!)

Cleaning Time

We need your help! The basement needs to be cleaned out in preparation for this summer's HVAC work and for the tornado drills. Over the next three weeks, please go to the basement and get anything that you need. Anything left will be discarded as we start our major cleanout. Shay and I will create a special spot for items you are ready to discard. Please have this completed by Feb. 13th. At that time, we will start filling the dumpster with anything left.

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day parties will be held on February 14th. Please meet as a grade level and then communicate to your families early if you would like students to bring Valentine's Day cards to pass out to classmates. If you choose to celebrate another way, that is fine also! Just be sure to let families know so they can plan early. If any students need help with Valentine's Day cards, the office can help.

Clarification on Duty

Thank you for all you have done to increase supervision for our students. We have not had any calls recently so great job! Please be sure not to miss duties! Make a switch if you will be absent or can't make your duty.

Before-School Duty:

2 people should monitor the playground and 1 person should watch students exit vehicles. Encourage cars to keep moving and watch for any cars that are parking across the street and letting students out to cross traffic. The person with the star next to their name will ensure all doors are shut before leaving duty at 8:30.

After-School Duty:

2 people should be on the playground helping to ensure that students are not playing until 4:00. The person that is on bus duty can monitor students up front and then make their way to the back to help clear the playground. Please do not leave any students on the playground. Any students who are still left at 4:00 should be brought to the office. Be sure to check the back of the building.

Wondering what to say to families when you are on duty? Here are some examples:

For safety reasons, we have to make sure that all students are accounted for. We would love for you to wait a few minutes until we clear the playground and you are welcome to come back at 4:00 to let your kids play. Thank you so much for your help!

We are trying to keep our drop-off line moving. If your child isn't quite ready to get out of the car, please feel free to circle the block or park on a side street until he/she is ready.

Let me know if you have other concerns with difficult conversations. I'm glad to put more examples in the blog!
