Thanksgiving Celebration November 26th Thanksgiving Celebration November 26th

In the month of November, we spend time talking about the things that we are thankful for. We also read and discuss several versions of the folktale "Stone Soup" from around the world. The lesson behind this story teaches us that by working together, with everyone contributing what they can, a greater good is achieved. That is definitely something to be thankful for!! Right along with celebrating Thanksgiving, we will put this moral into practice by sharing ingredients and creating "Plant Part Soup" to enjoy as a class.

Don't worry if not everything has been signed up for- some of the fun of Plant Part Soup is that it's always different and each person adding their one small piece is what makes it special.

Please send in your "Plant Parts" washed and chopped-- we will be sure to send home any containers. I will be providing vegetable broth to cook the soup, and it will be simmering away all day in the classroom. By the end of the day, it will be ready to enjoy!! Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!!!

You will be reading books and sight words with kids in the hall. I will sometimes have you assess their sight words or play word games with them. This helps our kids grow even more!! It is okay if you can't stay for the whole hour.

Homework:

With the holidays coming up and having some time off I made some changes to our homework schedule. These are the Fridays when homework will be sent home.

Friday,

November 8th

November 15th

December 6th

December 13th

January 10th

Then after these dates we will go back to the every Friday schedule!

Guide to our homework:

Keep completing the back of the phonics pages at home (keep them at home)

Homework is sent home on Friday's in your child's folder and is due next Friday. All homework will be sent home on Fridays and should be turned in by the following Friday.

A few reminders:

  • Please make sure your child writes their name on their homework before they place it in our purple bucket in the morning.
  • Homework packets are not returned, so if the packet is still in your child's folder, it means they forgot to turn it in. :)
If you want to do some extra learning at home, check these apps out!

We have a peanut/tree nut allergy in our classroom so please be aware and do not bring any peanut or tree nut foods to our classroom.
