MCP3 Staff News
Week of 8/31/26
Peterson's Message- K3 Director
Happy First Week of School MCP3 Team!
It has been a strong start to the 2026-2027 School year! Classroom teams have been solidifying their RAPs with scholars and ensuring the team is on the same page with what is expected. Great work on welcoming scholars and famlies positively.
Staff have been using Positive Descriptive Feedback to reinforce expectations and let scholars know how they are doing! Keep up the great work with PDF! Here are some examples I have heard:
- Thank you for using your walking feet.
- I like how friends have their eyes on me and voices off when I am talking.
Remember- NOW is the time to set the high expectations for what you expect from your scholars. Remember to reference your RAPs together and update if needed.
Let's make it a wonderful first full week with our scholars, class of 2041!
With all the Love and Respect,
Peterson

Potty Training Policy ~ Tracking
Thank you for being diligent on tracking and documenting the accidents your scholars are having. This helps tremendously in ensuring we are enforcing our potty training policy. It is on page 4-5 in our MCP3 Family Handbook. I will be asking teams to share the tracking data with me by the end of the week on Friday 9/4/26 so that I can follow up with families as needed.
Weekly Walkthroughs & School Wide RAPs
This week Ms. Perine and I will begin our weekly walkthroughs. Weekly Walkthroughs are a quick way for us to check for and give feedback to teams on School Wide RAPs/Expectations in classrooms. RAPs are not separate from our mission- they help us deliver it! Alignment creates consistency.
We look for and provide feedback on the following areas:
- % of Scholars On Task and in uniform, & note what EA is doing
- Classroom Appearance: organized, all visual artifacts posted/referenced, evidence of curriculum materials
- Classroom Management & Culture: RAPs are evident, clear directions, transitions, demeanor, use of technology, positive/neutral and respectful relationships are evident, routine use of PDF
- Health & Safety: room free of hazards, meal service RAP, Scholar tracking & attendance accurate, toileting procedures
It is important for scholars to know that when a visitor enters the room, they may give a quiet wave, but should stay in their spots. If there are any health/safety issues we will ask that those are corrected right away. After the walkthrough we will email the form to both Teacher/EA. Make sure to review the walkthrough that day during prep and make a plan to correct any action items noted.
🙌Staff Shout Outs🙌
T/EA Time
Shout out to all teams for taking their T/EA time on Time this week! Our classrooms are stronger when we are in alignment together!
A few shout outs across our team included:
- Shout out to you for stepping in when needed without a prompt or cue and way to use PDF at recess even if it felt uncomfortable.
- You have been very helpful in getting me accustomed to management and routines.
- Reminding me about PDF.
- Jumping in to help!

Staff Dress Code
Staff are expected to follow the dress code according to our employee handbook.
Nightly Cleaning
The following cleaning tasks will be completed nightly. Please be sure to put your chairs up on the student desks each night to allow the cleaning team to properly clean the floors.
- Dust mop/sweep and damp mop tile floors or vacuum carpeted floors.
- Empty trash and replace liners as needed.
- Spot clean both sides of all glass doors (if applicable), as well as door handles and switch plates.
- Spot wipe desktops and tabletops in the classroom/library.
Please remember to pick up large pieces of paper, pens/pencils, crayons, markers and paper clips.
If any of the items listed above are not being completed in your classroom, please let Perine know via text. If possible, please take pictures of the areas that were not cleaned and send them as well.
ClassDojo
We want to ensure we have 100% of families connected on Dojo by next week!
It is also important that we begin to utilize dojo to highlight the awesome happenings in your classroom by posting a minimum of 1x a day on your class story. Many classrooms have already been rocking out their class story posts! If you have NOT posted on your class story yet- make a plan to do so this week. Keep it up!
Field Trips🚌
Each classroom is responsible for planning and scheduling their 4 field trips for the year. Classrooms should plan to schedule a field trip each quarter. Here are some suggestions for K3 appropriate field trips:
-The Zoo
-First Stage
-Urban Ecology Center (let me know if interested in doing this program again)
-Pumpkin Farm
-Hawthorn Glen Outdoor Education Center
-MItchell Park Domes
-Betty Brinn
**Make sure to reference the MCP calendar when scheduling field trips.
**Classrooms may wish to buddy up with other rooms for Field Trips.
**Once Field Trip is scheduled- staff should fill out the Field Trip form on the MCP Launch Page.
**Classrooms have a $2,600 budget for the year for Field Trips.
