1st Marking Period Highlights
Greetings!
As we wrap up the first marking period, I’m thrilled to share the amazing experiences and achievements that have filled our classrooms and beyond. Our students have been busy growing academically, exploring the world around them, and connecting with their community in meaningful ways.
Our teachers have been implementing small group instruction to provide tailored support for our students. These personalized sessions help strengthen foundational skills and challenge learners to reach their fullest potential. Teachers foster a sense of ownership and responsibility in their students by having them set individual goals in math and literacy. By tracking their progress, students are building the confidence and grit needed to succeed.
Kindness was in full bloom as students participated in activities to spread positivity and compassion. Acts of kindness within and outside the classroom made a lasting impact on our school community.
Our students learned about service and gratitude as they engaged in Veterans Day activities. Local veterans were honored at a special tribute at Veterans Memorial Middle School, which featured a moving rendition of the Star Spangled Banner, letters of appreciation read by students, patriotic music performed by the band, and guest speaker Nat Amadeo, Lt. Colonel Army. The event culminated with William J. Duffy memorializing the 21 Brick Fallen Heroes from the Civil War to Iraq.
Community connection is a critical component of a strong educational system. I hope that you had the opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue about your child's progress during Parent Teacher Conferences. We will be hosting some Parent Academies in the next marking period to continue to strengthen our partnership.
As we move into second marking period, we look forward to more exciting learning opportunities and events.
Wishing you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving!
