From the Desk of the Superintendent
Over the course of the next week we will be celebrating the Stoughton High Class of 2025: Scholarship Knight is this Sunday, June 1; Class Night is Tuesday, June 3; Graduation is Thursday, June 5. Each ceremony has its traditions and gives us a chance to recognize our soon-to-be graduates in different ways.
At this time of year, I also like to highlight where the senior class will be heading after graduation. Three quarters of the Class of 2025 have responded to a survey about their future plans. Nearly 86% of those responding will be continuing their studies by going to a 4 year (70%) or 2 year college (16%). We also have students that plan to serve in the military, enroll in a trade/vocational program or apprenticeship, join the workforce, or take a gap year.
Take a look at the list below for more details:
Many students in the Class of 2025 have attended the Stoughton Public Schools since kindergarten, and some even since preschool. I look forward to seeing what they will accomplish after they cross the stage next week at graduation.
Congratulations and remember, “Once a Knight, always a Knight.”
Have a great weekend.
Sincerely,
Joseph F. Baeta, Ed.D.

SHS Senior Sofia Issa Receives MASS Certificate of Academic Excellence
Congratulations to Stoughton High senior Sofia Issa for receiving the Massachusetts Association of School Superintendents (MASS) Certificate of Academic Excellence! Massachusetts school superintendents present this award annually to deserving students in school districts across the state. SPS Superintendent Dr. Joseph Baeta presented Sofia with this award during a recent School Committee meeting.
Sofia is an outstanding member of the Class of 2025. Sofia’s academic achievement has placed her among the top ten in her class. Among her many academic achievements, she has made honor roll each school year, has taken and is earning the highest of grades in eight Advanced Placement classes, including AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Environmental Science, AP A/B Calculus, and AP Government. Sofia is a hard-working, driven, and involved member of the Stoughton High community. She is the president of the National English Honor Society, a Community Service Coordinator for National Honor Society, and a member of Student Council and the Best Buddies club. Sofia has also been a three sport athlete for all four years of high school, participating in field hockey, ice hockey, and outdoor track. Outside of school, Sofia volunteers at the Stoughton Council on Aging, delivering meals to elderly residents, and at her church, helping with youth events and fundraisers.
Prior to SHS, Sofia attended the Gibbons Elementary School and O'Donnell Middle School. After graduation, Sofia is attending Northeastern University and majoring in Health Sciences. She hopes to pursue a career in the medical field and work with children in developing countries.
