Celebrating School Library Week at Bellows
There was also a Photo Booth area for students to share their love of reading through pictures and a Golden Ticket was hidden in select titles that students could check out throughout the week.
It was a nice way to remind students how important the library is to learning at Bellows and to get their minds off of the New York State exams!
Playground Poetry!
In recognition of National Poetry Month and Earth Day, each class was asked to create an original poem about Planet Earth and display them outside of their classrooms. To culminate and celebrate their work, as a grade-level, classes gathered together in the schoolyard to share their poems with one another.
This was another shining example of how connected we are at Bellows and to honor our planet on Earth Day!
Thanks to all of our classroom teachers for taking the time out of a busy week to get together and enjoy the work they do with their students.
And a special shout out to Ms. Tosi, Ms. Spedafino and the Student Council for keeping the positive and collaborative spirit alive at Bellows!
Life Garden Volunteers Wanted!
Come help out in the Life Garden at FE Bellows the morning of May 14th.
Please consider volunteering your morning to assist in planting each classroom’s seedlings. If you’re interested in joining and helping the students with this year‘s Spring plantings, please reach out to Jessica Fitzpatrick… jpienik@yahoo.com
This is a great opportunity to see your children and help our garden grow!
Earth Day Clean Up!
On Friday, all of FEB took a stroll to Florence Park for a little Earth Day clean up! Teachers and students all did their part to help the environment. It was the perfect day for it, too!

Rye Neck High School Eco Council Visits Third Grade
The Rye Neck High School Environmental Council visited Bellows on Thursday afternoon to talk to third graders about who they are, what they do and how elementary students can do their part to help our planet! They shared facts and figures with students and engaged them in some "True/False" trivia fun!
Thanks to Ms. Kayan for reaching out to her former student, Taylor Vroom, who is a member of this important group of high schoolers!
Class Placement for 2026-27
We are beginning the process of determining class placement for the 2026-27 school year.
Classroom placement is a process that takes teachers and staff many hours of careful thought and consideration. When constructing a classroom, we look at many different factors including learning abilities, peer relationships, class size, strengths and challenges, diversity, as well as other factors, to create classrooms that foster social and academic development for all children. As in the past, all classes will be heterogeneous, meaning they will reflect various abilities.
When making classroom placements, we always consider the individual child while recognizing that each child is part of a complex picture. We are committed to creating balanced classrooms. Once the classes have been formed, moving one child from the group can alter the stability of that balance and impact the overall makeup of the classroom. For this reason, once class placement is finalized, we do not move students from class to class.
It is always helpful to share this process with parents/guardians who can provide information about their children’s strengths, interests, and needs. This information, combined with input from your child’s current team and our knowledge of the instructional styles of teachers, helps us best place students. We invite you to complete this Google Form to offer input in this process.
2026-27 Parent Placement Input Form
As a reminder, this form only needs to be completed if your child will be entering 4th and/or 5th grade at FEB in the fall.
Please do not submit a request for a particular teacher as there are many factors to be considered when constructing a classroom. Also, we do not place students with "friends", but academic peers. We ask that you do not send a teacher any requests for your child to be placed in this way.
Typically, there will be more than one teacher or classroom whose style will work well with your child. Our teachers and staff spend many hours considering the best learning environment for each student and we ask that you trust our process. They also consider strong and healthy peer matches across all the classrooms.
Placement information is due no later than Thursday, April 30, 2026. Due to building-level scheduling and placement deadlines, we will not be accepting submissions after April 30th. This includes any emails sent after the fact.
Class placement information will be released in late August with our opening day/placement letter.
