School Window Replacement
Opequon School Community,
In 2024, Berkeley County Schools partnered with the West Virginia School Building Authority (SBA) to secure partial funding for a Major Improvement Project to replace aging, energy-inefficient windows in several schools, including Opequon Elementary. We are thankful to the SBA for its support and to the Board of Education for approving the remaining funding to help improve learning environments across the district. Projects like this are also made possible through the continued support of our community, including initiatives such as school bonds.
At Opequon Elementary, the window replacement will take place during spring break to minimize disruption to students and staff. The new windows will feature:
- Insulated glass to improve energy efficiency
- Tinted glass, with manual window shades to help reduce glare and heat
- Safety film to enhance security and protection on top of fully tempered glass
- UV protectant to reduce exposure to sunlight
These upgrades will create a more comfortable, safe, and energy-efficient learning environment for our students and staff.
Thank you for your continued support as we work to maintain and improve our schools—building for growth and building for kids across Berkeley County Schools.
