Edition 45: May 29, 2024 Edition 45: May 29, 2024

On Thursday, May 23 a historic settlement agreement in the class action lawsuit, House v. NCAA, continued the changes in the landscape of college athletics. NCAA President Charlie Baker along with the commissioners of the Atlantic Coast Conference, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-12 and Southeastern Conference released a joint statement saying they had agreed to settlement terms, which include a roughly $2.77 billion payout over 10 years to former and current student-athletes since 2016. They called the move "an important step in the continuing reform of college sports that will provide benefits to student-athletes and provide clarity in college athletics across all divisions for years to come.”

What does this mean for Temple Athletics? Like every school in the nation, we will be closely monitoring as this develops and will continue to work with our leadership team at the University to determine the best path forward for our programs and student-athletes.
